Nuchal results... ??

Just wondered if anyone can explain what the 'chance of Downs' figure actually means... (NHS combined testing)

I mean, I know what it means, but don't know what it is compared to anyone else!! Does that make sense...??

I had the combined blood test and Nuchal fold measurement thing, and just got the blood test results. It just says the risk is 'low and the chance of Downs is 1 in 6000.'

Is this good, how does this compare to anyone elses??

Sorry, it sounds good to me.. but then thought what if everyone elses was 1 in 10000 or something??

Any advice would be appreciated.. xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

That's a very good ratio. Not a problem there at all.

That's REALLY good, they will offer you further testing if your chances are more than 1 in 150. My friend was 1 in 250 when she had hers and she was considered 'low risk' (her little girl is fine!)

Hi mine was 1 in 4853 and that was considered v.low too. Normal 20 year old (according stats looked up on internet) is 1 in 2600 if I remember correctly. So we are happy happy people right? Congrats on your result honey. Xxx
