advice plz - would a preg. test still show positive if I'd miscarried early?

Hey!

I've posted a thread before about my lack of symptoms.
It's really really getting me down.
Wk 5 I had some stretchy pains and aches and a little light brown spotting and rang nhs direct who said sounded common and not to worry and it went away.
I've never had any symptoms. I'm tired and boobs are a bit tender but nothing significant.
Now I've read about these missed miscarriages on this forum, something I never knew about before, and I'm so worried that this bean stopped growing when i was having these pains and I've also read that you might not miscarry if it's so early.
I'm wondering if I could do a pregnancy test again but would it still test positive if the bean has stopped growing but is still there?

Please help I don't knw what to do.

Those symptoms do sound completely normal. Brown spotting at your stage is probably implantation bleeding, and stretching period like pains are normal too. Not everyone gets lots of symptoms either.

The key thing about bleeding, is that brown blood is old blood. If you start bleeding red, fresh blood then you need to ring your doctor.

Try not to worry too much hun

I didn't have that many symptoms at 5 weeks. My boobs were tender but probably not any bigger, I seemed to need to pee more but that could be because I was making an effort to drink more water! Morning sickness hasn't kicked in for me at all, I just feel tired all the time.

I'm sure there is nothing to worry about, although I know that's the hardest thing in the world to believe whoever it comes from x

No symptoms - anyone else?

4 pages of women saying the same thing. a complete lack of symptoms!

I was actually reading last night that only just over 50% of women actually suffer from morning sickness.. that means over 40% DON'T!! Unless you've got severe pain/cramping and bleeding then I know its hard, but you really need to try and remain positive and get yourself into the frame of mind that there is no reason for anything to be wrong with your bean. MMC are rare. they only seem so common on here because we're all in the one place from all over the world.
Give your tummy a rub and tell your beany that you love them and enjoy being pregnant.

Thanks girls!
I'm just a wreck.
My 2 sisters both had bad experiences during their pregnancies and I'm 11 years younger and I think I've grown up thinking MC is normal, and to expect problems I guess. I'm finding it really difficult to relax. Thanks everyone though x I might see if I can bring the early scan forward.
Do you think it's useful to take another test or might I get a false positive? I really wish there was a way to measure HCG at home.

TBH I don't think there is much point, if you take another test and for some reason it is on the light side, diluted urine, not as much dye in the pack, older test, etc etc, its only going to stress you out more. I've still got a test and almost used it this morning so I understand the need to see those two strong lines again,
if something has gone wrong though, your body would still have enough hcg in it to produce a positive result, especially if you haven't had pains/cramping/bleeding. So I don't think it would calm your fears any.
If you are really concerned, give your GP a call and see what they can do about your early scan, it's not tooo far away now though. only 9 more sleeps.

I'm 16+4 and still haven't had any symptoms apart from some tiredness early on. I had some brown spotting early on and was really panicking, mw told me brown is old blood so not to worry. I panicked all the way to 12 weeks that something was wrong, and then 12 week scan showed a healthy baby, excitment lasted about 4 days and then I started pnicking again that something was wrong as had no symptoms still!!!! Anyway, went to my 16 week appointment yesterday and was fully expecting them to not find a heartbeat, but the doppler thing went on and there it was, a perfect strong regular heartbeat. I'm sure i'll be back worrying again in a few days. It's not an easy thing to go through, especially when hormones are involved, I think you almost have to get used to worrying, it isn't what I expectd to feel like at all and now I'm trying to enjoy it, try to do the same thing hun

Good Luck Amy xx

Personally, I wouldn't change your scan. Other people on here have had mixed results at being able to see very much on a 6 or 7 week scan, it might actually cause you more stress than calm.

I don't really know how the hormones work so wouldn't like to say whether a pregnancy test would help you or not. Like Mrsq2b says, if it would make you feel better to see the lines then do it, esp if you've got a spare in the cupboard still.
