As for your meds, as long as your doctors think its ok then things should be fine. |

I actually just recently went of Paxil (for depression), and this is a subject I have researched quite a bit.
The short answer to your question is that *most* SSRIs (which is often the class of drugs used to treat depression/anxiety/OCD etc.) are safe to take during pregnancy. In fact, studies have demonstrated that less harm is done to a developing baby from these drugs than comes from having someone who needs the drugs not take them. The stress and other biochemical things that go on in your body when you have a panic attack can be much more harmful to the baby than the drug you're taking to control it.
However, not *all* SSRIs are safe for pregnancy (Paxil is one that is NOT safe, i believe it is called seroxat or something like that in the UK). My guess is that your Dr. knows which of these drugs is safe during pregnancy and which isn't, and you should probably trust his/her judgement. But if you have any questions or concerns, or would just like further reassurance, I would recommend contacting your Psychiatrist as well. They often are the ones that are much more knowledgeable about these classes of drugs than the OB/GYNs.
If you would like more info, or just someone who knows what you're going through, please feel free to email me privately (sara[at]thepaynes[dot]cc).

With SSRIs there are no risks of fetal abnormalities, but there is a small risk of a rare respiratory disorder, but it is so rare that I am not going to focus on it. Trust me...I have been researching my medication for MONTHS!! I even tried to come down off my meds and it was NOT A GOOD thing at all!! I am just going to be as healthy and safe in every other way that I can and trust God with the rest. THANKS! | Your welcome...like chefsara says... if your docs say you should remain on the medication, then stay on it... I wish you all the best! Congrats again! |

Good luck! | Thank you so much for the reply. I visited with both my OB and my Psychiatrist...in fact I contacted my Psychiatrist the day after I got my BFP just to make sure and she feels confident that this is best. Again, thanks and I pray for a happy and healthy 9 months!! |
