Back/Bum stabbing pain - sciatica?

Hi all

All day today I have had very painful shooting pains in my back, just above my bum cheek and down my leg. It is mainly when I stand or walk and is very painful.

Have had a look on the net about sciatica and it sounds similar. I have had a bath and it has eased a little but not much.

I just can't believe that I could have pains like this so early on (9+1).

Has anyone had this or suffered from it in previous preganancies and can offer any advice?

I have too.... i think, feels almost like a constant dull ache but then every now and then it shoots pain, a bit like a trapped nerve. xx hope u dont suffer too much. xx

Thanks for the reply, it is nice to know I am not the only one!!! I just thought it was weird to have pain like this so early on.

I have my first MW appointment on Tuesday so I think I will ask her if there is anything I can do.

I've got pretty dull pain in my bum right now. My mom had it all the way through her pregnancy as well. I hope it doesn't get any worse!

Hi I am completaly new to this.... I just keep having this very bad lower back pain. Sometimes it leaves me in tears. I am not even sure weather I am pregnant or not. My period is only 2 days late. My previous one was very short and very little bleeding so not sure if I should take this pain as a sign that I am pregnant.....

I have got it quite badly. If you go to the doctors, they can refer you to physio, and suggest some exercises to help ease it. Mine hasn't gone but is getting better.
