So this is my 1st child, I'm only 6 weeks but I had a couple of questions for people who have already had a baby. How early can they hear the heart beat, how far along till they can tell the sex, And when can they tell exactly how far along I am?

Hello... I don't remember exactly how far along you have to be to hear the heartbeat, but I know that I was 20 weeks when I found out I was having a boy, and they should be able to tell how far along you are at your first prenatal visit... around 6-9 weeks.

Everyone develops differently, but I believe that at around 8 weeks you can see the heartbeat on an ultrasound. I was able to see the sex at my u/s at 20wks 3 days. It can be earlier if you have an u/s earlier, like 16+ weeks and the baby cooperates. Congrats on your bump. =)

hiya, i could see the heartbeat on the ultrasound screen at 5 weeks!!!!!! its my first time too....congrats xxxx

Hi Congrats, every pregnancy is different & I really dont think you know how many weeks you are until you get dating scan 10 - 12 wks...Heartbeat can be heard on fetal monitor as early as 10 weeks but sometimes earlier in an ultra sound scan!! Elle xx

you can hear the heartbeat from around 10/12wks but it can be quite difficult as its moving around alot.
you normally get told the sex around 20wks.. but i think if you have a scan from about 16wks they can tell then.
