I'm Currently Feeling: | Fetal Ultrasound Dopplers? Hi Just wondering if anybody has bought or thought about buying a fetal heart monitor? I am thinking about it as you can hear the heartbeat from 10 weeks and wondered if it would stop me worrying so much...Elle xx | | | | Status: Offline

I have one & love it!!
The MW was concerned I bought one because of my history but it was because of my history that I bought one & have to say its my best buy through my pregnancy. It can worry some people though.
I got bubs HB around 10 weeks but not all girls will < leaving panic alone. Not only that I don't think finding it was too easy. One thing I can say is I always found it bottom right of my belly and I would put the doppler in one place and slowly move the doppler around at an angle in a cirlce < Hope that makes sense I told one of the other girls this and she found it too (forgot who now).
If your going to buy one I would get a proper probe doppler and not these that have earphones although I hear they are good you talking for use later on in pregnancy.
Another bit of advice is the digital display they can cause worry and did me every now & then. I spoke to MW about it again and she said if you were to get one that maybe to go with one without this feature is best too.
Hope that helps! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I have one and I love it. I was not able to find the heartbeat till just before 11 weeks. It takes some patience to find it, so don't freak if you can't. After finding it the first time, some days I would find it in a second, some days it took me forever.
I also agree with Wobbles about the digital readout. A lot of times, I can hear the heartbeat, but it does not register. Honestly, as long as I hear that little thump-thump, I don't care. It is sooo freaking awesome hearing it. I also love being able to let my parents hear the heartbeat. They get such a kick out of it. What is also cool is the baby's heartbeat now response to us when we talk to it. Last night the heart beat was sitting at around 150, and I started talking loudly, and it went up to about 160, then back down when I stopped. It does it anytime someone talks to my belly now.
I was the one who took Wobbles advice on where to find the heatbeat, it was waaaay lower than I expected it to be. It was just above my hair line and just to the right. Even now it is still only about an inch above the line. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I really want a doppler too !!
Is it better to hire one or just buy one ?
Can anyone recommend where to buy/hire one from ?
I did have a nose at ebay and I saw a few of the Hi Bebe ones going for about £50 / £60 ish, they are used though, but in excellent condition, boxed and that. |
