Is a strong dark line a good sign?

Hey all.

Used to post on here a while back when I was starting my TTC journey in 2007.

Just got a BFP - on Tuesday. My first baby. I am 39.

I managed to conceive on my first round of Clomid which was prescribed because I had 'unexplained infertility' although I was ovulating regularly. When I was a day late with my period I tested and got a BFN. Was completely convinced that I wasn't pregnant but waited 3 days and then got the darkest line I've ever seen almost immediately. Since then I have done a Clearblue test which says I am 3+ weeks (which is 5 weeks) and that's about right.

Anyway - is a dark line a good sign? I am worrying about the slight increased risk of ectopic pregnany and suppose I need reassurance though I know it's probably way to early to tell.

I have an early scan in 3 weeks (I will be 7.5 weeks by then) which I think is what they normally do for women who have had clomid to check the pregnancy is viable.

is there more of a risk if you've been on clomid for a long time?

Anyone here managed to conceive quickly on clomid and did it work out ok?

Well I can't answer any clomid questions, but when I took the test (also clearblue), I was about 3 days overdue and had a REALLY dark line. Also it showed up right away - the first line to show and was at least 2x as dark as the others. It was a good sign for me!!

Congrats on your BFP!! And welcome back!!!

i think it's a very good sign to get a dark line...i would assume it means there is a high level of HCG in your system. The first test I took was extremely faint....the last test I took the test line was darker than the control line...that's gotta mean SOMETHING right??

Congrats on your pregnancy, have a happy and healthy 9 months!

I was 7 weeks pregnant with this one when my positive line came in really dark. I had an ultrasound Friday, everything is great!
Congratulations!

Oh thank you all. I know nothing can be certain but I was just worrying a little too much. Will try to chill out and not stress myself. Scan is on 4th June - 19 days away! Going to be the longest 3 weeks of my lilfe I think!

With clomid there's a slight increase in the chance of twins too which is scary! Though at my age an instant family of 4 is nothing to be sniffed at.

can I ask, did you decide to have a scan early because you were worried? And can they see much when it's early? Did you get a picture?

questions questions questions!
