really confused... been told by hosp to book with drs & drs are saying book hosp!

HELP!!!!

Basically on my 12 week scan letter it says "before you come to your 12 weeks scan please can you make sure you have visited your midwife at your local dr surgery to have your bloods and family history in order for the nucheal scan to take place. If we do not have this information we will not go ahead with the scan. the bloods can be taken from 10 weeks and up to 4 working days before the scan"

Now I just called my drs on the interest to see if there was a waiting list for the midwife and asked when i could book. Asked what it was about and she said no we dont do blood here thats the hospital. so i read out what the letter said and she said no we dont do anything we dont see you till your 17 weeks!!!!
So what the f do i do now?

How weird - my scan and booking appointment came on the same letter and the scan is first. I did ring to check this was right but apparently it's normal (in my area at least).

Both of mine are at the hospital, but different hospitals. I don't think my local doctors has a midwife, just a nurse and the doctors themselves. I wouldn't have known that if they didn't tell me though. Maybe try calling back and see if they can at least give you the phone number of the department at the hospital to ring. Again, this was on my scan letter but sounds like you are going to have to do a bit more work yourself!

I would ring the hospital and explain to them what your doctors have told you. I am sure that they must come up against this frequently if your doctors are adamant that they will not take bloods until week 17. It does seem a little strange though. Have you had any appointments with the midwife yet? Did you get to speak to the midwife when you called the doctors or just a "know it all receptionist". Good Luck.

it was a know it all receptionist and she was really rude as if i was stupid!
I dont know what else to do and am loath to call again and come off feeling like a twat!

Well strange have bloods so late.
I had a routine pregnancy blood sample taken on friday i was 9weeks, next will probably be around 15weeks.
