Updated Doctor's Visit!

Hi all!!! .. I had a Dr's appointment yesterday.... Thinking I was going to get an ultrasound... but I didn't

INSTEAD... I HEARD THE HEARTBEAT!!!!! it was AMAZING!!! here is the video of me and the Dr. listening to my baby's heartbeat... if you're really quiet you can even hear the baby moving!! It was AMAZING!!!

I go back in 4 weeks for all sorts of optional testing... just wanted to know if anyone opted for the tests or not??? Its a blood test to test for spinabifida, down syndrome... and other tests... anyway... I don't think Im going to do it... The Dr. did say being that I am 22 I am at a lower risk. I figured that I'm going to have the baby no matter what... God forbid if there's something wrong with him/her, and I know about it... it will stress me out the entire pregnancy and i don't need that.

What you girls think???? My mom doesn't think I should do it either.

I'm 22, and I did the test anyways. It doesn't hurt the baby, and it's always good just to know. Even though we are at a lower risk, doesn't mean that we are completely out of the water. Plus, knowing that there is nothing wrong with the baby is one less worry! It's all up to you though.

By the way...wasn't the heartbeat cool? I cried.

Nikky.. My Doc also warned me that sometimes the tests come back with FALSE POSITIVES.... which then its checked by a level 2 ultrasound.... so I' don't know what to do?!?!

YESS!!! Heartbeat was truly amazing!

That is also rare. If they did get a false positive, though, at least you would get another look at your little one. They basically just want to let you know all the things that could go wrong, but not necesarily do go wrong. But do what makes you comfortable.

I've already decided I'm not having the tests ! Would rather not worry. I assume you're young & pretty healthy, right? Your chances are pretty low anyway.

Congrats on hearing the heartbeat, thats succh an awesome sound!
I was 23 when I was pregnant with my son and we decided not to have any of the testing. I know 2 people who were given false positives and they went through the hardest time during that period, we didnt want to go through that. Plus, regardless of the outcome of the tests, we would have had him anyways so knowing anything was pointless to us.
