Hidden Twins

Okay, I am only JUST 9 weeks along, and I am NOT a skinny person. I have lost about 10 pounds so far and yet, I have to buy maternity clothes. My friend who is the same pre-pregnancy size as me is 17 wks along and is just NOW thinking about buying maternity clothes. A friend I haven't seen in a few weeks saw me today and could tell I was preg. just by looking at me. I had my first ultrasound at 8wks 3dys and it only showed one baby. Is there still a possibility of twins and one mirroring the other one? Anyone ever have that happen?

It could possibly be that you're bloated perhaps. This is your first child right? If u had the scan they should have been able to detect two heart beats. Maybe post up a pic of your belly? I wouldn't be too concerned just yet it's still very early. But everyone reacts differently so even if you are already showing it's not a bad thing

it is possible for twins to be "hiding" my friend had twins, she never knew about till delivery!!! and she had 3 scans!

though everyone is different in size and shape, water retention can make you bloated too x

I showed very quickly with both of mine, I had to tell everyone by 9 weeks with Seren, and with this one people guessed straight away. I think it would be rare to have a hidden twin (though as Yvanne has shown with her friend it can happen) but I would say it was bloating.

it can happen but apptly is quite uncommon, this was like 20 odd years ago and modern equipment is much more advanced

Agreed, with today's technology more than likely the ultrasound showed what is really there. Sounds as though you may be bloated and have a lot of water retention which is common in early pregnancy!

I started wearing maternity clothes after 12 weeks.. now at 22 weeks, thats all I wear.. some of my shirts still fit but NONE of my pants. Everyone can tell I am pregnant too. Like when I do cash register at work (I work at Kohl's), everyone asks when I am do

But yeah, like everyone else said, you could just be bloating.. or you could be having a big baby and he/she is growing fast. I expect to have a big boy! I was a 10 pounder and my BF was almost 9.. hehe.. it's going to be scary
