I am going to tell my son when I start to show. He is almsot 3 so he is going to have a ton of questions. Plus we are trying to keep it to ourselves until week 13 and then will let the family know. Since my son has no filter on what he says I am sure he would spill the beans!!!!

I like that idea!.. although if it wasn't all ok then you'd have to put a brave face on when you came out...Ahhhh so tricky...

Glad all's good with you though!! Thanks for your input.

she didnt know what ward we were on as they had recently refurbished it all and so there were no baby posters etc on the wall...Unntil scan day when she had asked why I wasnt feelin too well I just said I had a sore tummy. So when scan day came she said too me is the nurse going to look at your sore tummy and I said yes...and that she would sit outside with daddy while she did it.

Charlotte is 10 and I Know I have to tell her before mum and dad but as close to when we plan to tell them as possible as she will be desperate to tell everyone.

I'm actually planning on using her to tell mum and dad, I saw a fab t-shirt that on the front says, 'I have a secret to tell', and on the back says 'I'm going to be a big sister.'

That t-shirt sounds fantastic!! What a sweet idea..

After all your comments, I think I'm thinking more along the lines of wanting to wait for a bit before telling him.. I've told my mum and sisters so I've got a bit of the 'telling' urge out my system!

Take care.
xx

We asked our 2 year old if she'd like a little brother or sister, to which she replied "yes, little brother please!". However, i think that she is too young to understand. I think that maybe after our 12 week scan we'll start talking about it more, and then when i start to show, will tell her that the baby is in mummy's tummy, but not sure she'll really "get it" being so young.

hi. i haven't told my step daughter yet and we aren't planning on telling her till we prob really showing. now 14+6 and just look fat!!! look like i used to acouple of years ago when i was fat!
She is 6 and already has siblings on her mothers side.
Its made even more difficult in the fact that she can be very jealous and has had issues with sharing daddy with me. even though we have been together for over 4 years.
Her mother is also very difficult and we have endure years with solicitors to get access to her and even now she doesn't follow court order.
We are mainly concerned that we wont see her again because of how her mother can be.

We have told the rest of the family but only did that at 14 weeks as my SIL had miscarried last year and my younger siblings (youngest is 9) took this quite badly.

well my wee girl is almost 3 (in June) and my sister told her mummy had a baby in her tummy! i don't think i would of chose to tell her that early just in case (!) but the nursery teachers were explaining to the children that one of the other teachers had a baby in her tummy, now Aria took complete offense to this and started shouting saying NO MY MUMMY HAS A BABY IN HER TUMMY! so the teachers have known since i was 6 weeks! kids! x
