Progesterone Supplement

I am 9 weeks pg and I have been on a progesterone supplement called "Prometrium"for about 5 weeks now. I had a miscarriage 3 years ago and my Dr. was concerned about my progesterone level this time around. I'm not having any problems, but I have heard some horror stories about this drug and I just want to know about other women's experience with this drug. Has anyone been put on this and have you had a healthy baby?

Hi Britt. I had a my 2nd mc back in June08 and doc put me on prometrium this time around too. I'm also in the same boat as you today and was just going to post a similar thread. This is the beginning of week two for me on this drug and only a few complaints for me: being dizzy and lathargic for 2-3hrs after taking it, and bloating.
A good part of me thinks it's worth it if it means I can make it through a pregnancy and have a healthy baby.
Any way, I hope that someone whos done this can answer the big question for both of us. Best of luck to you!

Those are pretty much preg symptoms anyways

This is my first pregnancy. I too have been put on progesterone supplements since one week after conception. I was barely making any progesterone at all. Docs have told me that after about 12 or 13 weeks I no longer need to be on the prometrium because the placenta starts making its own progesterone. To be honest, Im a little nervous about stopping the progesterone. I would love to take them for my whole pregnancy.

I have an appt on this Friday and will be talking to my doctor about this. So I will see what they say. Well... good luck to you girls!
