Really bad pains in my tummy

Hello all

Last night I had the worst pains in my tummy - not low down where little baby is, just a bit higher. I was doubled up with the pain. We called the doctor who advised that I take Paracetamol. It helped a little, but was still pretty painful. It was like a very sharp stabbing pain. Has anyone else experienced pain like this in pregnancy? I'm 8 weeks and 3 days.

Thanks

Pains/cramps are very common hun however anything that makes you curl in a ball should be seen to for peace of mind - thats very bad! Is the pain constant? Eased off? Accompanied by any bleeding?

In my first tri I curled over in pain once thankfully it went away after I sloped to bed - i think it was to do with my bowels

If you are any further worried and the agony has not worn off I would take yourself to the emergency - its not healthy mentally to worry.

I only had bad cramps twice in my pregnancy (though I still have a long time to go!). I cramped terribly BEFORE I found out I was pregnant, around 2weeks. I was curled in a ball, trying to ease the pain. I had cramps again around 6 weeks, but I reckon those were because my uterus was expanding.

If yours are continuous and that bad, I think that maybe, as Wobbles said, you should take yourself to the emergency. It will ease your mind, and hopefully stop those terrible cramps!

The worst pain I have felt so far has just been gas. Lots of gas.

Thanks for your advise girls

Luckily the pains had almost gone by late morning and I'm now feeling much better. I phoned the midwife who did scare me slightly by saying that it can be re-directed pain due to miscarriage, but as there is no bleeding she didn't seem too concerned. I have a midwife appointment tomorrow so hopefully all will be ok. I worry a lot though. I honestly didn't think I would, but already this baby means the world to me.

Thanks again

my pains are mostly gad, but Im still 2 weeks behind you. I wouldnt worry unless they were constant and bad. My doctor told me if they are REALLY bad and last more than 4 minutes to call him or go to the ER

I've been having terrible pains the past two days. It feels like needles poking me in my intestines...it was so bad I cried. It happend every time I ate and I would get really bloated also. My husband's mom-who is a nurse- said it was indigestion. I didn't know that could hurt so bad. Also eating spicy or acidic foods can make it worse and irritate the stomach lining and inestines. I've been taking maalox and tums to ease it.

I forgot to mention...it could be food poisoning if you were doubled over...I have been food poisoned 3 times and every time it felt like stabbing pains and it was the worst pain I have ever experienced but it was associated with vomiting and/or diarreah. That could be a possibility.

I've been doubled over a few times before bed. I think it was probably gas... but it was very painful to say the least.

I was doubled over in pain last week. It was gas. I can't believe the amount of gas I have produced since I've been pregnant.
