IBS Support Thread xxx

OOOOOOOOOOOH girls please please HELP!!!!!!!

My IBS is playing up 10000000 times over, i CAN NOT cope anymore i am dying in pain, i tell you its worse than labour contractions as my bowel is contracting so bad but up to an hour at a time instead of a minute in labour

Then i take AGES to recover for it to start all over again I begged the GP for Movicol but no i am only allowed Lactulose and no IBS painkillers....

I may go to the vet tomorrow and ask to be put down

How do you cope during pregnancy with IBS? xxxxxxxxxx

I suffer from IBS not in any pain but I don't go to the loo hardly at all my doc said movicol was fine for me, any reason why your not allowed it? Cause I have been pretty concerned about using it to be honest!

I feel your pain ash hun, I suffer with IBS too and when it strikes it is unbearable....

luckily I haven't had an episode since being pregnant and I don't take anything for it anyway because it never works, only advice I can offer is to take a nice warm bath and have a lie down! Hope you feel better soon hun xx

Hi hun...

GP just said that they don't say to not to use it but there has been no clinical trials--i suspect my GP was being over cautious as i was a student in a maternity hosp till last month and one of the ladies was on movicol...So i would not worry hun xxx

yeah I will mention to my doc tomoro about the movicol even if its just to ease my concerns I am sure he would'nt have put me on it if it wasn't safe!

Just until the first scan you always worry about every silly thing thinking your harming your baby I was like it with my first and I am like it this time too ;-)

I suffer with IBS, and i'm going through a bad patch at the moment.

I am finding the abdominal cramping quiet bad though the meds i'm on do help it doesn't take away the feeling of urgency of needing to go and finding no action when you respond to the triggers! ( TMI)

i'm on Fybogel with Mabervine and the husk ingredient that i can't spell. I was secretly hoping that my symptoms would ease during pregnancy but i think i'm due for a rough ride.

I don't have IBS, but I have IBD. Sugar is evil to my gut. I usually feel better when I cut it out of my diet. Everyone is different, but I hope that helps. It's hard enough being pregnant as it is!

I've been taking probiotics for over a year now (Thankfully my doctor said they're safe during pregnancy) and they have changed my IBS life! I didn't want to leave the house because I would get upset stomachs with stress. I don't know what they have where you are, I take a pill but there's been a huge movement here with having them in yogurt. After less than a month I noticed a HUGE difference and I plan on taking them until I'm brave enough to see if my digestive tract has changed on it's own yet, or take them forever!

Best of luck, hope you get some relief soon.
