How much notice from hospital of 12 week scan?

How much notice do you get from the hospital for your 12 week scan?

I'm 11 weeks on Monday, saw the midwife two weeks ago on Wednesday and still not heard anything. I called the hospital I've been referred to (Jimmy's in Leeds) on the two week date and they asked for my date of birth and surname then told me I wasn't mentioned at all on their system and to call the midwife and ask them to fax over the paperwork again.

I called the surgery and couldn't speak to the midwife then but she called back when I was teaching and left a voicemail to say I shouldn't expect to hear anything from the hospital until 4 weeks after seeing her for the first time. I'll be over 12 weeks by then and worried that I'll have to wait ages after that until the actual appointment. She's now gone on leave so I can't call her and ask her and the replacement midwife may or may not pick up her e-mails, and definitely not until mid week so I'm going crazy wondering if this is normal.

Doesn't it seem a bit odd that if my paperwork had been sent to the hospital 2 weeks previosuly it wouldn't be on their computer system, even if it would still be a while until the appointment?

I know I'm being really impatient but I just don't feel pregnant as I've got no morning sickness, I'm just tired and want to wee a lot during the night. Guess I won't believe it's true until I actaully see it on screen and just knowing the date of when that would be would help give me a bit of peace of mind!

I know it'll be different in every health authority but would just like to hear other people's stories.

Thanks

Hello! Yesterday I received a letter from antenatal unit. And I haven't been booked for my scan at all! (I am 8-4) They just crossed the graph where the day and time of scan should have been. They also gave me my first booking appointement with midwife when I am 15 weeks! This is my first pregnancy, so I don't know their reason for excluding me from scan and screening. I am going to see my GP next week, hopefully she can sort out this mess.

I hadn't been referred to the hospital for my booking appointment either had to phone the midwife who didn't know i existed as the doctor's hadn't passed my info on even after being dealt with by the epu... nightmare but the midwife was really good and said if i haven't received my appointment by tues to call her back so she can chase it up so i'd def get on their case they should be sorting it all out for you even more so if they've messed up and not passed your details on.

And i'm not due to have my first appointment with my midwife til 16 weeks and didn't with my first baby either i think different areas have different systems.

I wonder if that may be too late. They started doing my referal for the first trimester screening (I think nuchal scan in UK) at 8 weeks. I just got a call from the office to schedule my appointment yesterday (9 weeks 5 days) and the appointment is for 3 weeks out! 12 weeks 4 days. Of course this is just US system...

Call everyone you can to try to get it scheduled! Good luck!

I had a whole 13 days notice ...I called my antenatal unit at 11 weeks to check that they did actually have me on their list though and they said I should hear soon - might be worth a try x

Thanks for all your replies.

Think I'm going to call Jimmy's again on Monday and see if I'm on their system then, and ask them how long the process normally takes, if not I'll ring and speak to the covering midwife.

I can't even get an appointment to book a scan until half way through next month, so I'm thinking about having a private one in a few weeks instead.
