If you are considered high risk?? Because of my bleeding problems and past miscarriages I thought I would see my doctor more than once a month but that seems to be all they want to see me. I'm wondering if maybe I need to get a specialist or something??? Just wondering if this is normal or not for high risk pregnancies?

We have lost a number of pregnancies early & one ectopic I did not see anyone until I was 7 weeks which confirmed the pregnancy was viable although I had been spotting around 2 weeks previous. I then had another scan at 8 weeks then 12. Haven't seen too much of the MWs at first. I seen a consultant who ran some bloods twice, twice they were fine so back to MW care

As they told me after confirming the pregnancy is in the right place what comes next cannot be prevented ... harsh I thought!!

Relax, stick your feet up & try to enjoy your pregnancy but I understand its hard when you have a past loss and bleeding occurs x x

Well I'm happy to report there hasn't been any recent problems just really sick and tired all the time. I just hate that there is a chance of something happening and I'm like the only one who seems to care. I know thats not really true but thats how I feel. I'm so nervous about this pregnancy and I just cant wait to get past 16 weeks. At least then I know the chance of miscarriage is so much less. But even with twins I thought I would be seeing a doc a lot more.

*sigh* I don't know what is making me so paranoid but I guess I do need to relax a bit. lol for some reason today my mind is running a million miles a minute and I'm doing all I can to stay away from Google about problems with twin pregnancies but let me tell you what its starting to be a challenge to stay away from any search engine. I'm about to tell DH to block them all from my lap top

Hun I'm in pieces still to this day I really can't wait for bubs to show me shes arriving safe. First I wanted to get past 12 then 20 then 25 where I am now. A little more relaxed but wheat I've picked up is every expecting Mum panics with their first ... so your not anything from out of space

Stay way clear of Google ... Helen on BabyandBump hasn't long had twins & shes a great member of our forum she would happily help & talk to you about any concerns or questions regarding carrying twins I am sure of it.

I had my twins in June. We didn't have much out of the ordinary until after 20 weeks. Up till then it was standard (except as IVF twins we had scans at 7 weeks, 10 weeks and 20 weeks rather than the usual 12 weeks and 20 weeks). After then we had scans and consultant appointments every 4 weeks reducing to every 2 weeks near the end.

As we were having such regular hospital appointments, I don't think I saw my midwife from around 16 weeks until after they were born, but I didn't feel that I needed her.

When I was first PG with them, I read and heard all about the problems with twin pregnancies but then as time went on I heard more and more about people who had had succesful twin pregnancies and who had got really near their due date. It put my mind at rest so much I was then worried about having to wait 40 weeks!

Thanks Helen it helps loads!! I mean I think its good to know about the things that can go wrong but yet again Its stress that I don't want at all right now. Right now they have me going every month to see my regular OB and as far as I know my next scan is at 12 weeks and then again at 20 weeks. After that Im not sure how many scans I will have.

I have a question for you? How soon did you start showing? Like I know there cant be any way my uterus is near the belly button like they say it is when you start getting a rounder tummy but my stomach is rock hard and thats the only place I seem to really have a bump at all. I know 8 weeks may be too soon but I always have heard that with twins one sign you are carrying twins is showing sooner than with a single baby.

I also wonder what things I need to do to prepare? I know our house is small and its going to be hard to have 2 cribs in the room that will become the nursery. Is it safe to have them in one crib and if so for how long? Can they share the same bassinet as well or no? Also how much do you really need double of? I'm just curious for financial reasons as DH will be getting laid off from work very soon and we will have to live off of unemployment for a while until his job has need for him again. I need to budget now and see what I can find off of the craigs lists and stuff even if it is jumping the gun a little bit I want to be ready for anything and everything.

Please if there are any other tips for twins please let me know!!!

I'm pretty sure I was in maternity gear from 8 weeks. I just got too tight for my clothes, though people didn't really notice until I was 12 weeks+

Ours have shared the same cotbed since they were born. At first they were side-by-side and now they top and tail. It'll probably only be for a couple more weeks as they are banging heads when we go in in the morning now! It is lovely to see them sleep together. If they're not bashing or cuddling each other, they're latching on and sucking!



We didn't bother with moses baskets at all. Straight into the cot and we haven't had to deal with the problem that people with one child have of the transfer into the cot. We got one and half times stuff in relation to bedding and basic clothes, but we have had masses of stuff given and bought. People really go mad for twins. The main thing we needed to buy was Tiny Baby size clothes as no-one really thought of that but as. Obviously most twins are premature.

I think I set out with fairly low expectations of what we would achieve and people tell me that I'm laid back. I think you need to be. Accept that one of them will probably be crying their head off while you deal with the other. They survive. Lots of people will want to hold them and you will be grateful for the help when you get over the need to keep them to yourself. Don't compare yourself with anyone with one baby and give yourself three times as long to get anywhere. You will be stopped by little old ladies ALL THE TIME!!!

Twins are the most incredible blessing. Never forget how lucky you are!

lol thanks for the info and I have to say those are probably the cutes babies I have seen!!! (I probably sound like those little old lady don't I??) Its rather scary to know that at 2 months your little ones are already getting too big to share a crib, I don't think we will be able to move any time soon to a bigger house and there is just no way we will be able to fit 2 cribs in that room unless we don't have a changing table or rocker and I figured those things were pretty much essential.

I'm in maternity pants right now and I pretty much just throw on DH's shirts, I don't leave the house too much anyway but right now I think I just look fat to people. I just seem to be noticing the belly is there already but I'm overweight to begin with too.

I'm wondering about the clothes thing, when were your twins born and what size were they in?? preemie? Just trying to figure out how much of what I will need and how long I will need it for.

Sorry If I'm asking too many questions lol you can tell me to shut my big trap if its annoying. I'm just so.........excited and.......overwhelmed with everything. I have been thinking for weeks now of how I would handle twins and what I would need to do but now for some reason its really hitting me that this is going to be totally different than having just one.
