OMG.....polycystic ovarian syndrome

Morning ladies.
after months of being up and down with being poorly, last night it was confirmed that I have polycystic ovarian syndrome.
As some of you might know I am due to have my reversal done in november and planning to fallen pregnant some time in 2010. Well it seems like them plans may have to change...

My question is How many ladies on here have fallen pregnant and have polycystic ovarian syndrome, was it naturally or did you need help ?

As much infomration as possible would be great. As i am very confused, lonely and upset and I dont know much about the condition..

Hi there,
Sorry to hear about your diagnoses, PCOS can suck, big time, but there is hope!! I got diagnosed when I was 22 and since then its been a constant battle, What I can suggest is to start doing lots of reading NOW about how you can help yourself naturally! Changing diet is a big thing, wholemeal and wholegrain breads, rice and pastas, try and cut out the sugary crappy stuff, (yes, I know its hard!!) and excersise.. even when you don't see any results on the scales, as it WILL be making a difference, even if that difference is just maintaining the weight you're currently at and preventing you from putting any on!
My OH and I bought TTC forward a good 6 months as I was so worried that it would take me up to 12 months, if not longer for us to conceive, only for us to get our BFP on our first month trying!! We've still got a long way to go until we're in the clear but I'm positive it was the changes I've made over the last few years and the knowledge of my own body that got it here so quickly!!

Good luck!

thank you both for your replies.
It has all come as a bit of a shock to me.
Someone has suggested I make a diary of my cycles and body patterns, so after the operation, I might have a clearer idea of how my body is working.. Do you think this would work?
My doctor gave me a big pack of information which i cant seem to take it in..
Just hope my hopes and dreams havent been shattered...

I got to pay for my operation which is costing us £3500, my chances of falling pregnant were 75% after the operation but surley that would go down even lower now..

Hi, I've got PCOS and got my BFP on 27 Jan (am 7 weeks now). I came off the pill in May 2005 and after a year I went to the docs as I hadn't caught.

My periods were all over the place - I was bleeding every two weeks or so. I was sent to the hospital where I had scans and was diagnosed. I was prescribed clomid as I wasn't ovulating, but as I was studying for professional exams we decided that we wouldn't take the clomid right away.

We never used any sort of protection and over the last 6 months I found my periods getting more regular. I started charting them and found I was on a regularish cycle 29-32 days. Well when aunt flo didn't appear in Jan I tested and got a BFP. Clomid is still in the drawer.

Don't worry, a lot of woman have PCOS and go on the conceive naturally - I never believed it until it happened to me .... 4 years down the line!

There are a lot of options for women with PCOS, don't give up hope!

Take care x

I was told i had PCOS at the age of 17. I was told i have it very bad and may not get pregnant natrually and maybe not at all,it broke my heart.
I couldnt get pregnant natrually they tried me on a number of doses of clomid which didnt work, all the time i was focusing on get a BFP and it never happened it did get me very down. But in March 2006 I had ovarian drilling, and by this time i did think what was the point in this it will not work, and i got a BFP in May 2006. And I gave birth to a healthy boy on my birthday Jan 2007.
I then had the implant in and got it removed Aug 2008 just after our wedding, dr had told me i would need a operation again but they wont do it till we've been trying 6+months so to just have fun trying and in nov i got the shock of my life when i got a BFP I am now 14+5. I really cant believe it has happened let alone without help the 2nd time! It isnt the end of the world all though until i had my BFP the 1st time it was heartbreaking every month and many tears. I couldnt settle all through my 1st pregnancy I kept thinking I would lose it even all through labour.
Anyway dont wanna go on to much but I am hear to chat if you want to.

xx
