If at 37 weeks they say you are full term then why is your due date at 40 weeks? I don't understand can somebody please explain please? xx

I think at the 37 weeks your baby can suckle unaided can't think of a better term. Before this I think they need assistance with feeding. But at 40 weeks they are nice and ripe lol. Please correct me ladies if I've got it wrong.

My understanding is anything from 37 weeks to 42 weeks (as most dr's won't let you go longer than this now) is full term. It's too inexact a thing to say all babies take exactly 40 weeks to be ready for the world.

^^ITA plus you can't always know 100% the exact day/moment of conception.
