Anyone not like their midwife?

I've only met mine once, so I'm still keeping an open mind but I'm seeing her again on Tuesday and not looking forward to it.

My GP booked my first midwife appointment which was at about 6 weeks. (Midwife is based at our GP practice) I had an appointment first thing, and was made to wait around for almost an hour. Then I was shown upstairs to her office, where she said very rudely. 'I don't have time to see you today, and anyway seeing you so early on is pointless given your history' (One previous loss and suspected ectopic)

She didn't have time to see me, because someone else had been given my appointment! I was feeling awful and really wanted to ask her some questions but she kept cutting me off then practically shooed me out the door!

Than god for baby and bump, otherwise I'd still be clueless on most things! I just really don't want to see her again.

I have a new one everytime I got to the doctors! So never actually get to know them. They all seem nice though which is reassuring

Am so sorry to hear how rude your midwife was
I completely understand, I really don't like mine, I find her really unhelpful, like she know's how sensitive I am and plays on that.
What I've found now is that if I have a problem I go to my GP, who's very good.
Hope it was just a one off and it turn's out you get a fab midwife

Woah, sounds like your midwife is a really insensitive jerk.

The woman I went to see for my first appointment at 10 weeks was okay... not really friendly, but very professional. Hopefully at your next appointment your midwife will be a little more courteous. If she's not, I say go back and ask for someone else! There's no reason to stick with someone you dislike, and who's been so rude to you.

You could ask to see a different MW. They work in different ways but will always be part of some team or other. It might be you'd need to go to another area nearby to see a different one but worth it to get someone nice. She doesn't sound very good at all.

Me me me...oooh...over here. I can't STAND most of the docs/mws at my office. I only like MY doctor. The others suck...I've only gotten to see MY doc ONCE...and she's gonna be in another country on my due date!

Well...only once since I got PG

Can you get a different midwife? I would be rather peeved too!

I like one of mine a little more than the other, but really they are both great. They work in teams so that way there will always be one of them available when I go into labour.

Honey, if during your next visit you still don't like her I would advise you to switch.

If only I had done this when I was pregnant with my daughter. I did not like her and it was absolute hell with her when it came to my induction and delivery of my daughter. I won't get into it, but will say I made sure I damn well did not have her when I was pregnant with my son, and this time around.

Do you have the option to change?
