explain the angelcare for me?

http://www.angelcaremonitor.co.uk/

Now I understand about the idea that it goes under the mattress and tells me if LO stops moving.

BUT- (am I being blind) how thick for the mattress?

Can I have the sensor pad AND the sound thingy on at the same time?
ie if the pad is turned on can I use the other bit as normal baby moniters as well so I can hear if s/he is stirring/crying?

I LOVE LOVE LOVE our angelcare monitor!! It's by far the best baby thing we bought bar none. Such priceless peice of mind.

how thick for the mattress?
Our mattress is about 10-15cm thick. It's a mothercare sprung cotbed mattress. At first when you put it underneath the moses basket mattress you need to cut out a peice of plywood to fit in the base of the basket under the mattress. Then the sensor goes underneath that. It just helps it to connect with the lighter, thinner mattress properly.

Can I have the sensor pad AND the sound thingy on at the same time?
Sure can. I think you can have both or either one on their own too. We always have the movement and sound monitor on though. Now DD is much older we just turn the sound down a bit.

DD is 14 months and we still use it. There have only been a couple of times where she's rolled off it or something and the alarm has gone off. Woah! Talk about panic!! Much rather then than the alternative though. I have never wondered if she will still be alive when i go in to her in the morning because i have a reassuring flashing light telling me she is.

Thank you

We're not using a moses basket, LO will be in the cot in our room. The matress is this one http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Produc...%3ECOT+BED.htm
so 7.5cm thick?

I'm also looking at getting a sleep support thingy (haven't finished researching yet) as some have said for LO going straight into cot it can make them feel a little more secure, so no chance of rolling off it lol

I'm looking at some on ebay just now thank you for sharing you experience with it

Yeah, DD outgrew her moses basket by a couple of months old anyway. She used to wake up with a jolt and her arms would hit the sides and make her cry.

We used to swaddle and i think that helped when we moved her into the cot. They like being wrapped up tight like that. We used the Halo SleepSack cause the swaddle bit could be taken off when they get too old for that. Plus it's one that's SIDS safe apparently.

Oh and i meant to say you can dial up (or down) the sensitivity on the angelcare, so you can adjust it depending on the thickness of your mattress.

I have the tommee tipee movement monitor and i would never sleep without it. You can use the sound monitor or movment pad or both. There is blue flasing light on both monitors which flashes with her movment so when you wake up one look and you no baby is ok.They both work in a similar way.i just use moses basket so far
