maternity bras?

i am about 10 weeks pregnant and wondered when is a good time to buy maternity bras? and how long are they likely to last before you need to get even bigger ones?

a few weeks back i noticed my usual bras were getting uncomfortable, so i went to m&s and got some new ones - ordinary bras, in my usual size, but different style so they were more supportive and more comfortable. now, though, they are starting to get a little uncomfy and i have noticed that my bbs are kind of bulging over the top a little! obviously i realise it's important to be properly supported and comfortable, but i'm just worried i'm going to be spending a small fortune on new bras every few weeks.

also, where would you recommend to buy them? i always get m&s as i know they always fit well, but then i have worn the same size for years and i realise that is all changing now.

i would appreciate any advice, thanks for reading x

i went and got fitted for mine at 6 weeks because i had grown out of my other ones pretty quick, the woman also advised i got 1 cup size bigger again as i have grown so quickly

i went to marks & spencers, they are soooooo comfy!

you dont have to spend a small fortune hun - i think 'maternity' bras are a total rip off - just buy a normal well fitting non wired bra - does exactly the same job, or a sports bra, very supportive x

they recommend every 6 weeks but that costs a fortune!! I found the 'old lady' bras quite supportive - u know, the ones you find in the back of granny catalogues. Triumph doreen i think they are.

If you are uncomfy then it's worth getting some but not until u are. tbh i wear wired bras as long as possible because i'm so big

i remember with dd going round all the shops and crying because i couldn't find a bra that fit. i'm a 36FF currently and ended up as a 36K at one point! I have to go to bravissimo to get a bra that fits but that's cos i've a small back and big boobs. but they are very helpful. but expensive!

they recommend not to buy a feeding bra (if u bf) until 36 weeks tho i found my boobs didn't change much after then.

buy one to wear and one to wash to keep costs down. sports bras are quite good too. they're horrible and show under all ur tops but at least ur supported!

i would agree with suzib76 tho, don't buy specific maternity bras, try to find cheap non wired bras. dept stores are usually quite good.

thanks everyone, think i'm going to go shopping after my scan on wednesday. my sister said she got all hers from mothercare, and looking on the website they seem quite reasonably priced - lots of 2-packs for about the price i usually spend on one from m&s. fortunately i'm not too big - 36B usually, but will need to get measured i think. good idea to get one with growing room, buttonnose. might still end up at m&s, as whenever i have bought bras elsewhere they are never as comfy and i just end up not wearing them, so will see. want the excuse to go to mothercare to look at all the cute baby stuff, lol!!!
