You'll be ok! If you think it will make you feel better, see if you can get the cats tested. If they're negative you'll know there's no chance of you guys getting it since they're indoor cats now.

Yeah most cats won't have it.. specially if they are indoor cats
My cats rarely go on the worktops, they know ''get down'' and well if I catch them up there they get sprayed, I can't stand cats on the worktops!
You can also train them to stay off worktops by putting tinfoil (or so I have heard as they hate it) along the edges.
I use to put dishtowels along the edges as that meant they couldn't get a grip when they jumped up.
Now they are outdoor cats, they only will go on the worktops if I have left something tasty like meat or milk up there, but they get put out if I hear them up there its a rare occurance now.

i was told by my GP that the biggest concern is in first trimester when everything is developing, but after that as long as you use gloves you can change the litter tray yourself. Cats themselves arent actually dangerous, its their poo thats the worry. It sounds like you keep everything hygenic, i wouldnt worry hun. They reckon most of us will be immune to it anyway because of changing trays or gardening before pregnancy x

I wouldn't worry about your cats, they're indoor cats and it's outdoor cats that could be infected from eating mice and other animals.

About being immune to the disease...I've had outdoor cats for years and I'm not immune to it, I thought I would have caught it at some point, but obviously not. My cats never had litter trays in the house (except when they were too young to go outside) and did their business outside, so maybe this is why. Where I live if you're immune to the infection then they test you every month during your pregnancy. This is due to it being more likely to catch the infection from uncooked meat than cat poo.

Your chances of getting it are slim but I would keep the cats out of the kitchen (off the counter tops) when you're not in there to supervise them. To be honest I've never understood the big hooha about changing the litter. Just put on a pair of rubber gloves and wash your hands thoroughly after changing it. Enjoy your kitties!
