What weight makes you high risk?

Not pregnant yet but thinking way ahead

If you're over a certain weight can you not have a home birth or a water birth in a birthing centre?

Im 12.5 stone and have a bmi of just under 30. Id love to give birth in the local birthing centre or at home.

Some hospitals have a cut-off of BMI 30 and above and others 35 and above.

depends on your hospital, also dont let anyone tell you that you Cant have a homebirth as its your right to choose where you want to give birth, obviously they can refuse to see you at a birthing centre and send you to the hospital but if you want a homebirth and your mw and gp say otherwise then you can still have one as they are only able to inform you of what is the best option ( in their opinion ) for you a and baby and they cant drag you to the hopsital if you dont want to, check out www.homebirth.org for info on it

Oh thats good to know! Is it based on your pre-pregnancy weight then or your weight during pregnancy?

That makes me feel a lot better. I've lost half a stone in a month by just eating healthier and smaller portions alongside a bit of exercise. It hasn't been too difficult so hopefully i will have lost a bit more by the end of the month.

Now i just need to get a bfp!!

My BMI was 30 during the first MW apointment and yet she wrote low risk in my notes after considering the other risk factors. However, later they tried to refer me to a dietician which I declined.
I have always been quite healthy and active and, aparently, that is more important than those extra pounds.. I put them on shortly before getting pregnant...however, I would try to keep my weight down before getting pregnant as it is easier to manage the pregnancy if you don't carry around too much extra weight.
