A question about pre-eclampsia....

Will it affect my pregnancy if it has been present in the babies dad's side of the family?
Sorry if it's a silly question.. I can't seem to find any info on it

No.. I don't think so. I've never heard of that being the case. Pre eclampsia is more common in multiple pregnancies, in very young and older mothers and in women with pre existing high blood pressure or kidney disease... and in women who have had it before in previous pregnancy.

There's no evidence to show it's hereditary(sp?) but make sure it's something you are aware of just in case. You can speak to your mw about it in more detail, but don't let it cause you undue stress or worry!

Well I am being monitered closely, MW every 2 weeks, as my mum suffered from it, and had complications with 2 of her pregnancies. I had read if your mother had it, then that's another reason for being at a higher risk. I have not heard that the fathers history would affect it.

Hi, i haven't heard or read of it being hereditary... But i got it at 34 weeks & had to be induced at 35 weeks... I'm 28, didn't have a multiple pregnancy, didn't have previous BP problems or kidney problems...

I had a great pregnancy right up until i started having the symptoms of the pre-eclampsia... No morning sickness, very few aches & pains etc until week 33...

I would make sure you're aware of the symptoms of pre-eclampsia so that if you get two or more of them you can go see your midwife...
