initially disposable, i would like to swap to cloth. But im thinking of how nice it would be to carry a shitty cloth nappy around with me in public and not liking the idea of them been worn out and about... theyre alot cheaper to use but i think its alot easier to use a disposable. xx

A lot of people use cloth at home during the day and night and disposable when they go out...remember though that generally either way you may well have to carry dirty nappies around with you, there isnt always a bin to hand so you sometimes end up with a disposable in a nappy bag and disposables smell more than cloth

well you change your babies in a baby changing unit in a toilet, right? and they have bins, you can throw a disposable nappy in any bin anyway. But a cloth nappies for keeps..

We use cloth diapers and love them! We do it mostly because we hate buying diapers over and over, and it get's annoying, especially when you don't have a store that sells diapers in your town and have to drive 12 miles to the nearest city. Anyways. I love pocket diapers and one size diapers. My fav. brands are Fuzzi Bunz, Gro Baby, and Happy Heinys.

We're planning on using cloth diapers as I just don't like the idea of disposables on baby, just seems too unatural. But we've decided on diaper service as I honestly don't know if I would be able to keep up with the wash.

I'm up for giving it a go! I think we'll be using mainly cloth but will probably have some disposables at first as well.

My main reason is a cost thing after seeing the price of disposables!

I have also started doing part-time Elimination Communication with my almost-1 year old. He has taken to it like a champ! I only potty him twice a day (once as soon as he wakes up and once after dinner/before bath) as I am back to work this month but he knows exactly what to do and it cuts down both on one dirty diaper in the day and on the amount of nighttime wetness by a great deal. Less laundry for me, and if we're lucky he may be toilet-independant in six months time. We're just being relaxed about it and playing it by ear though.

Hello Bailey,

We got all our cloth nappies off of ebay which saved a bundle too. We chose the Onelife nappies, although I'm also thinking of getting some pocket nappies at some point too, just for the range of colours they come in!!

Ruby prefers the cloth ones rather than disposables. She would scream when changing disposables but just cries a little with the cloth ones.

Whatever you choose to do, good luck, and I fully recommend being led by your baby, if one brand doesn't suit him/her then try another until you find one they get on well with.

Best Wishes x

We use cloth when at home. It's not that big of a deal to carry a dirty one around if out wither though so depending on what we are doing cloth naps do go out with us. Lots of nappy bags come with sealable plastic envelops that hold them securely and contain the smell until you get home. We use disposables overnight and if bubs has a bad tummy like when he is teething (nappy rash is worse with reuseables at this time) . The first few weeks we will use disposables too as there are so many naps that bubs goes through in that time that washing will just be mental!

I think disposables have their place but reducing waste and reducing cost are great motivating factors along with the fact that reuseable wearers tend to toilet train earlier and quicker.
