Hi there, I had an emergency section too as I dilated from 4-9cm within an hour and they discovered baby was breach. It was a completely painless procedure and the surgeon and anaethestist I had were fantastic. I have a clean, slim scar which healed in no time. I was driving within 4 weeks, and getting myself used to lifting the car seat etc within the same period.

What I would say though because you say 'all we can do is pray for a screaming baby' to be warned that when sectioned babies don't always cry immediately. Its to do with the fact they are not squished and squeezed through the birth canal which normally clears all the mucus from the nose and mouth (I believe). Georgia took a bit longer than I expected to cry and that was a bit frightening at the time. You may not be able to hold her immediately, in my case it was because of the machines round about me, I was connected to monitors, drips etc and my arms were too surrounded with wires to enable me to hold her right away.
