19 Pregnant and need advice.

Hello All,

Im 19 years old and I just found out im 7 weeks and 4 days pregnant, and am due on July 11th 2010 ( I will be 19 and 11 months old then) . Im a little unsure of what to do. Dont get me wrong before this I was a supporter of teen moms there had been 5 girls in my graduating class whom gotten pregnant and had their children this year. I'm just unsure of what to do, I know I would be able to do this but it would be a stuggle. For me I guess the biggest thing is that I grew up with a Single mom and she stuggled our whole lives even though she was close to 35 when she had me.

I wonder if in doing and keeping my baby I would be giving them a good enough life? or if I should abort, I think adoption is out of the question for me as I would feel to attached to MY baby. Abortion though has always been against my family morals and my grandparents live in that old school world where we were raised like that.

I do have a partner whom I have been with on and off ( mostly on) for 4 years, he is my first love and we are serious about being together and always have been. He is also very level headed and thinks about things from many perspectives, which is nice because were on the same page about it.

Another thing that were worried about is our education, He has spent the last year and a half since high school travelling and working as a roofer, and is going back in January this year to upgrade and become a natural health doctor. I have spent the last year and a half since high school going to college for my diploma in hospitality. Technically I would be finished this year however due to the heavy course load this year I decided i would finish it in 2 and a half years instead of 2, meaning I would have 4 courses to finish from September- Jan, once the baby is here.

We both understand it will be hard anyway especially since I have delt with depression before. I just need some advice from people in the same boat, people who have dealt with the same thing ect. Thanks so much!!

Good morning and firstly welcome.

Wow! Well for sure it sounds like you have a very sensible head on your shoulders. How many other factors are there to consider, would you have to live at home with your mum and would she be in a position to help care for LO whilst you finish your course?

Morning! Wow you do have lot to think about!! Am not in the same position as you but wanted to let you know that studying and doing assignments is possible with a baby! I too, was studying when pregnant with my first and managed ( maybe a little later than planned with a little extension) to complete my degree distance learning, think I had four assignments to do after he was born!! My tutors were really fab and when he was tiny I even brought him to lectures if there was noone to have him!! Just wanted to tell you that your education doesn't have to end! Good luck with all your decisions xxxxx
