swine flu vaccine - simple poll

hi

sorry to post yet another thread on the dreaded swine flu topic but i have been searching the posts on this and there are a LOT of posts...
i just want an idea of numbers:

are you having the jab or not?

please vote just to give us all a clearer idea of what most people are deciding without having to trawl through endless posts.

i'm not basing my own decision on the outcome of this poll. just curious really.

thanks in advance

I had jab on monday and have been fine totally, no discomfort nothing, didnt hurt at all. Had to have hepc, diptheria and 3 other jabs for going to egypt and they REALLY hurt and could not move arms for 4 days properly so maybe thats what i am comparing to? I had it firstly cos i am asthmatic and secondly i think its best i have it in good time before next ICSI cycle. I asked doctor how long it takes before any nasties are out of my system and i just have good ole antibodies in my blood and she said no more than 7 days so i went for it and at the same time had the normal seasonal flu jab too haha

What people should rememebr is, all the elments of these vaccines have been tested even if the vaccine as a whole hasnt. Cases are falling now so it does not seeem so serious however, firstly they are likely falling cos people are being vaccinated if people stop being vaccinated the cases may not continue to fall. Secondly, it is just as bad if not worse for you and the baby if you have a high temperature for days due to flu, i am not sure i would want to take that risk really. Its a tough call and i dont envy anyone going through it.

xxx

I can't decide what to do for the best, particularly since I'll only be 14 weeks at my scheduled appointment to get the vaccine. I'm considering declining and possible getting it later in pregnancy, since the cases of women suffering complications in their pregnancy or dying due to swine have all been later on in pregnancy.. right?

My nurse advised that she would not suggest having swine flu vaccine until after 12 weeks. I think it all depends on how much contact you have with the public. If you dont it maybe best delaying a bit but at the end of the day its just as bad getting swine flu. I dont think the media are helping us as usual with scare mongering rather than just reporting facts. I know i would find it a hard decision if I were pregnant BUT i think i would go for it since i have had flu 2 times in my life and both times been horrendously ill and dread to think what that would do to a baby inside me. I think its best to talk to those who know like doctors and nurses ratehr than listen to news or googling etc. If your in doubt talk it through with your GP as ita about working out the risks either way. For me my asthma was teh thing that pushed me to getting it since I can become too poorly even if not pregnant.

All the best XX

My obstetrician didn't seem happy that I declined today. She started ranting that there's only a 50% uptake in pregnant women and risks to pregnant women are 10 times greater. I almost agreed to it just to shut her up lol.

Looks likes it's pretty evenly split! Good luck with your choices either way! Xxx
