Is anyone considering going private or did you choose to go private?

I have been reading reviews about my local hospital and they aren't all that great so hubby and I are seriously considering going private. I would like for everything around me to be familiar and calm even if I'm not and it seems that's the only way to guarantee that. It would also be lovely to have the same midwife with me throughout pregnancy.

I would love to hear about your experiences of going private and if it lived up to your expectations. Did you choose a midwife or consultant lead care? What sort of birth did you end up having and where?

I spoke to a woman at my yoga class who is going private with her second as her first was a caesarean and she REALLY wants to have a VBAC and the hospitals don't tend to give patients much confidence in that regard.

Having said that, maybe there's a nice midwife lead centre or borthing centre near you?

Yup, I'm based in east London. Homerton is my nearest hospital and the reviews I have read a very mixed, pretty much suggesting the midwives are hit and miss and the ward you are moved to after giving birth is dire. I'm really not keen.

Trying4#1, I take it you're in East London too? Have you heard bad things about the hospitals too?
