Separate or Built-In Carry Cot? (Pram)

Hi Peepsicles,

Just wondering what people's thoughts were on the pros / cons of having either a separate carry cot (ie/ Quinny Buzz etc) or a built in carry cot (ie/ Mothercare MyChoice) ? I am veering towards the built in carry cot at the moment however the Mothercare carry cot doesn't lie flat when not on the pram.

Just a general question really, are you going for a separate or built-in carry cot and why?

Thanks
Pie xxx

I've gone for the MY3 as I want my baby to be able to use a carrycot in the early days but was worried about how long she would actually fit into this as I am expecting a big and long baby so thought with one that changes into a pushchair would not be a waste if she not in carrycot that long! Must admit downside is that it doesn't lie flat when not on the pram but considering everything I went for the MY3.

Hi hun. For my last 2 I bought a mamas and papas 3 in 1 Ultima. However, my reasons were mainly due to the fact I couldn't find a pram/pushchair that had a rear facing position beyond 6 months at that time. Good to see now there are fftfgghrtyj, nfeASRER5TYH7UJI,L/.M NBCDS\wA3W3E456YU7KJ;. NB VC

Its really down to cost. With my first i got a 3in 1 (carrycot turned into pushchair) an with no.2 it was a travel system (car seat on buggy bit). With this one i wasn't gonna get the pram with seperate carrycot as it adds quite a bit of expense to buying it and they realy aren't in it that long as most babies like to see where they are going and sit up a bit as soon as they can but i got such a good deal on my pram i ended up with the separate carrycot and buggy bit. If you get a silver cross or mamas and papas 3 in 1 they both lie completely flat. the silver cross one actually has a liner and looks exactly like a carrycot then you take it apart and convert it into the buggy.

I have a pushchair that has a seperate carry cot and tbh used it about twice. Total waste of money for me, as it was such a hassle getting it in and out of the car etc, just ended up using the carseat that clipped onto the pram. When we have another I'd like a pram with built in carrycot I think... Duno if OH will let me buy another though...

I asked this in general chat cause i was wondering what was more ideal .. and i got few responses about carseat ones that go onto pushchair are good for quick trips but not long as dont want baby sat in the same position for hours and i can understand that its like us sitting on a chair for several hours "/ .. carrycots good cause they lie done and can move and everything but its waking them up to put them in it if you get them out the car.. but iv got a icandy cherry .. and that has a carrycot with it so ill be doing it that way and buying a carseat seperate for the car obviously and im going to get some adaptors so i can use the carseat if i go somewhere quick .. x

Dilemma Dilemma! Mwah! Guess the advantage of having a separate carry cot is that I can use it for bubs to sleep in downstairs but TBH will probably get a travel cot for that (as need one anyway) and don't really have space for any stuff I won't really use. The Mothercare MyChoice3 seems ideal - it's got a rubbish pram basket underneath though but never mind. I like the look of the iCandy but it's quite expensive compared to the Mothercare but there is also the Quinny on sale (but separate carry cot).

Round, round, baby round, round ....... I know I will get fed up and just make my purchase in a snap decision! x

Wel mines stil in the shop til january haha but im paying it off bit by bit .. but i had to pay for the pushchair and carrycot seperate and i wanted the footmuff to be added with it .. and that came to £484 but the shop gave me 10% discount so came to £435 stil expensive and iv got to get a carseat yet stil which will be like £100 .. i always think back now and think did i make the right decision cause i could of got a graco travel system for like £200 and that would have had the carseat attached to the pushchair! oh dear i would think it over alot but go for one your happy with really x
