Any adult reflux sufferers?

I don't know if its pregnancy ( I didnt have it last time) but I have reflux and its horrible. It makes my throat spasm, me feel like I swallow food a 1000 times. I am on meds now : Zanidex ( Ranitidine) 150 mg. It helping a bit but its so painful.

Does anyone else suffer from this?
Some days with the ms and this I just can't cope.

Yes, me too

I've suffered from reflux for a few years now but it had settled down a lot prior to me getting pregnant and although i've been on medication for it in the past i was managing without taking (except gaviscon) anything until a few weeks back when it finally got too much and i'm now on ranitidine too. It does seem to be helping although i find if i miss just one dose i know about it

The constant vomiting i was doing between weeks 12 and 21 definitely didn't help, but even now that is over i find i reflux with almost everything, even a glass of water and the pain is horrendous, so i really sympathise.

Hopefully your ms will ease off soon and your reflux won't be so bad. Big hugs.

I have been taking 30mg of Prevacid a day.

If it gets worse I can double the dosage.

I had it last pregnancy from about week 20 onwards. This time around it has started at 16 weeks and is constant and yucky. I will be asking my midwife for a prescription next time I see her. Ranitidine was fantastic last time when I finally got on to it.

hey! for all u ladies! i kno exactly how u feel....ive had a stomach ulcers since i was 14!! and suffered terrible acid reflux with it...was on meds which where wondeful but once became preg i couldnt take them as not safe...so ive struggled along with just RENNIE(i find better for the reflux than gaviscon) as ranitidine seems to irritate my stomach further...

best thing i found that helps is kids cheapy ice poles...as water etc does not work...spesh milk its the worst thing to take as its full of acids!...

just wanted to give as it really is horrendous...and with bump it gets worse im afraid! lol

My symptoms are a burning, hard pain in the middle of my chest after eating or after NOT eating for a long time, constant reflux up into my mouth of either something i've just had to eat/drink or else stomach acids...this particularly happens if i bend or lean over after eating/drinking or lie or slouch down.

Also when i first started out with reflux it presented as regurgitation, i wasn't actually vomiting as the food barely made it to my stomach, i remember once eating a croissant and i had just started with reflux and it was really bad, and as soon as i ate it i could feel it coming back up and i brought i all back up almost instantly along with a load of acid...very very unpleasant.

After about a year of suffering and a few months of being on medication i was tested for something called helicobacter pylori (by blood test at my GP) and was told i had it. I had a triple course of antibiotics and PPI's and then a repeat blood test a few months later (you have to wait for it to leave your system so to speak) and was given the all clear. The treatment didn't make my reflux go away but has certainly made it a lot better, as until this pregnancy i was doing pretty well with it.

I have suffered with this for years, think it's about 6 years. I think it probably contributed to my awful pregnancy sickness, but it does seem to be easing a bit now touch wood. xx
