Sounds like a bit of water retention (I got this even before I was PG so have sympathy).

Lift up the affected limbs....put your feet up and enjoy it! Try to get as much rest as possible and a bath should help to re-distribute the fluids.

Would be worth mentioning to the MW as it can be a sign of high BP etc but try not to worry and use it to it's full as an excuse for laziness!

I am suffering from water retention too and can only sympatise (sp?).

But swollen feet/hands together with protein in urine and high bp can be signs of pre-eclamsia. Deffo tell about it to your midwife.

I've also been suffering with swollen feet and hands for the last couple of weeks. At my last antenatal my urine was clear and BP was fine so they've referred me for a kidney scan on Tuesday to rule out kidney infection/problems.
I completley sympathise with you hun, it's very very uncomfortable!!!

Put your limbs up and relax, get lots of water and maybe try a banana if you have a lot of salt in your diet.

I puffed up big time. A couple of weeks later was admitted for pre ecclampsia. Some swelling is normal and just part and parcel. If you wake up i nthe monring an it's still there or worse, it can be an indicator that it's not usual pregnancy swelling. I had alot of pain in my hands and arms on waking and my swelling didn't go down with bed rest.

how far along are you? You should always report swelling to your doc/MW so they can check your BP and make sure its not pre eclampsia. In my 1st pregnancy, swelling is how I found out I was pre-eclmaptic.
In this pregnancy, I began to swell at 19 weeks after being in Florida and taking my daughter and 5 other kids to Disney World. I've been swollen (feet only) ever since.

So, it can be serious and it can just be edema -- but worth getting checked. I think it its not jsut feet, it could be something more serious.

Good luck hon!

I agree with LousMom. I know in my case, if it's just water retention or salt intake, it's just my feet and ankles that swell and not my hands. If I were to start swelling all over, I'd be worried and definitely give my doctor a ring.
