urinary tract infections

So I have a UTI, got my antibiotics for it from the out of hrs dr yesterday. I'd stopped being sick at 11+1. Or so I thought. I'm 12+5 now and woke up this morning and was really really sick. I'm wondering whether it's the UTI, the fact that I feel really flu-ey or just morning sickness...? Anyone have any idea...or just anyone who has had a UTI and their baby is fine. I'm really paranoid that even though they say the antibiotics are safe, the baby will get messed up by it.

Thanks.

Hiya hun

I had a UTI when Iw as 11-12 weeks pregnant(thats when they found it anyway). I was a lot of stomach and back pain, and some fluey symptoms that the doctor said were probably related. I took some antibiotics and everything seemed to clear up.

As the baby goes, Ive had 2 scans since then, and everything has been fine. I can feel junior moving around a lot as well whcih was a great comfort. I was also a bit worried about the antibiotics but I was assured by the doctor that they wouldnt give me anything that would do any damage to it whatsoever.

I think UTIs are quite common in pregnancy from what Ive heard... make sure you're drinking lots of water and cranberry juice, because thus will ease the symptoms quicker as well.

I hope you feel better soon.

xxx

I had a really bad UTI at 19 weeks and ended up in hospital for 4days went through 5 seline (sp) drips and 4 full courses of amoxicilin (sp) and evering is fine.

I couldnt eat when I had my UTI because it made me feel sick so I didnt for 4days lol - dont do that! - so it could be the UTI or if you are taking ur antibiotics on an empty stomach they will make you sick.

HTH

thank you so much for sharing your experiences!

I've been so sick today that I rang my drs surgery and they told me to stop taking the antibiotics and if I don't feel better tomorrow to go to the out of hrs drs. What a lovely new year! I just hope the fetus is okay in there!

The ER doctor I saw at the begining for my horrible morning sickness said I had a UA but I had so many as a kid I know what it's like and it wasn't showing any symptoms. I had to be on these aweful antibiotics that only made me sicker so I cut down to only once a day then stopped I know with the abuse of antibiotics I shouldn't have but I was so sick and this was all on the week of my wedding and honeymoon.

I had one around 20 weeks and both of my babies are fine, although before I knew I had one I did feel a little sick, the doctor said it was normal. The antibiotics are totally safe for baby you just have to make sure that you finish them all. My doctor said it's really common to have more than one UTI throughout your pregnancy and that it won't do any harm as long as you get in and get the antibiotics
