I'm getting the Angelcare Movement & Sound monitor. Haven't got it yet but I first heard about it here a little while ago.

It depends on what type you want to go for. I wanted a sensor one as I'm a bit paranoid and we got this one with DS1 http://www.amazon.co.uk/Tommee-Tippe.../dp/B000HPPRMY Unfortuneatly it doesn't work anymore as its nearly 3 years old so we are going to buy the same one again for new baby.

I love it as I never felt like I had to really wake up if I was worried about him in the night, just open half an eye and if the green light was flashing I knew he was breathing! We had a couple of false alarms (from rolling off the mat) but that never bothered me as I was always just relieved he was ok.

I like the sensor thing but some other mums have told me it would have made them more paranoid. It really depends on what kind of person you are!

I was given the Angelcare monitor as well for my 1st but didn't really use it because he slept in our room with us. So I sold it and that Mommy said it's been a life saver.

We have the BT 150 (It think!). Its brilliant. It's so sensitive that it even registers cars driving past (but you can turn the sensitivity down). It has a temp gauge, a torch, a talk-back function, lullabies... everything we need. I did toy with the idea of getting a TV screen one or a breathing sensor one but I think that I would have just become obsessive. Plus a friend of mine had the sensor one and said that her baby kept wriggling off the sensor and giving her a heart attack!

I have the Video/Sound monitor and I wouldn't trade it for anything! It was so hard to move Claire from the bassinet to her crib, and I felt much better being able to not only hear her, but see her as well.

It works when they get older too, you can keep an eye on them when they fuss being put in the crib, but they don't realize you can see them... so you don't get the 'act' for Mommy and Daddy.

I have bought the BT150 as my sister has one and said it is the best, I got mine from amazon and it was £10 cheaper than John Lewis so maybe worth a look. I also have bought the Nanny BM02 (breathing) monitor http://www.nannymonitor.co.uk/ as it is registered as a medical device and has the largest sensor pad around. It also has amazing reviews and I chose it as it only has the one function and therefore there is much less to go wrong with it.
