Labour Projects - Ideas?

So I've been reading some alternative books on labour and stuff and as I'm planning a home birth, it's generally suggested that you have a labour project planned to get you through the early stages before anything exciting is happening but you're still suffering. It's an even better idea to have something you can do with your birth partner apparently. Things like cleaning out a cupboard, doing the garden, making a scrapbook, baking and icing cakes etc. are all the usual but I was wondering if anyone had any exciting suggestions?

So far I'm taken with baking and icing cakes or biscuits or something because I'm banking on the gardening and house cleaning to keep me busy through mat leave!

A makeover by yourself, and photoshoot? Put on some nice makeup, and get OH to do some pics? Have a glamerous first part of labour!
Er, scrabble.....sorry I'm not very good at this It's a good idea to have something on the go though, keeps you occupied!

I like the thought of baking cakes and biscuits... all yummy things to sit in bed with a cup of tea after delivering!!

I'm not sure really, as I can remember being restless in early labour with my first (didnt have an early labour with my second!), and snapping at everyone in view... I wouldnt suggest anything too fiddly, or anything that will make a massive mess if you decide to throw it across the room!
Maybe making bread? the kneeding action could be quite soothing.
Having a DVD marathon? With all your favourite movies while your partner massages your feet, shoulders etc?
Go for a walk? Its meant to help the baby get into, or stay in the right position for childbirth, plus gravity really helps!

I watched series of my favourite shows.

All 30mins, so just bearable and easy to get into.

When I was in labour I cleaned out our spice cupboard, pantry, and went through all of our Tupperware and threw the old stuff out, washed shelves... I unpacked and repacked my bag and slept and read the newspaper.

Oooh all good ideas girlies.

Perhaps I'll do some baking and whilst they're cooking clean the kitchen and then sit down and eat them with a game of scrabble whilst watching TV! Hehehe.

I never had time ... she came out soo quick lol,
My Plan was to make a CD up (where you go through all your albums and choose songs to copy on to one special CD) so that i was up and about, listening to music (heavy rock music lol), singing my head off and distracted all at the same time.

This time i will probably just post away to you guys on BnB

My DH and are going to make a playlist to listen to and I was thinking DVDs - comedy probably best, as I can laugh and be distracted. Easy ones to watch, too.

I also like the idea of baking, mainly because I like the idea of eating! And I'd have something oven-warm to offer the mw's!

ooh baking sounds good, but then I'm rubbish at it so I'd probably get all irrational about it and cry! I want to find a yoga DVD and try to do the relaxtion bit at the end, go for a walk to the shop in the village adn have a shower/ do my hair.

I liek the idea of giving myself a mini-makeover. I'm rubbish at painting my nails at the best of times so i wonder how crap I would be at it while in labour? might be a laugh though, or I could ask DH to do my toenails so I look lovely on the video.
