my daughter is 6 days old. She is eating about 3-4 hours apart (we are not timing her thats just when she gets hungry. We are trying to breastfeed but had to top up with formula so its not going well (diff story!)
in between feeds she sleeps ALL the time i think I have only ever seen her eyes about 3 times! Is this normal? she is my third but i just cant remember my other two at her age

| It was a good couple of weeks before Oliver started opening his eyes properly. He just slept and slept! I think it's pretty normal at this age, but if you're at all worried, contact your MW/HV. Thats what they're there for! | | | | Status: Offline

| Thats completely normal. Majority on infants sleep 16-19 hours a day. Thats how they grow. Most babies only wake up to eat (some don't even wake up, you just feed them in their sleep), and then here and there for a short period of time. Once they start getting older and are more mobile they'll be awake more. Eventualy your baby might be awake a lot at night and sleep all day long, thats also normal, they don't know the difference. | | | | Status: Offline

| Sam did nothing but sleep, eat and fill nappies for a good few weeks. Now he hardly naps at all during the day. x | | | | Status: Offline
