Domperidone

So I've been prescribed domperidone because I can't make enough breast milk to keep up to Betty's feeds. If she had been term, I may have just supplemented with formula, but because she is premature, breast is best....
Its actual use is for digestive issues, lactation is actually a side affect, so anything I have tried to find out about it online is about its "proper' use.
Anyone else ever had to take it, and how did you find it? So far all its done is given me dry mouth. But I've only taken three doses...

Hiya I've taken it as an anti-sickness drug for my IBS but that's all I'm afraid. I never had any side effects with it but then I would only take it randomly when required eg a couple of days on it, then maybe not again for a week or two, so I wasn't taking it daily like you are. Sorry not much help I know!

My daughter was born with medical problems and has to be tube fed. After getting over the shock i decided that i wanted to express milk for her. I wasn't getting much milk so a breast feeding support worker suggested domperidone and fenugreek. You can take them at the same time. I researched into domperidone. Look into increasing milk supply and you should find some info on it.
In the end i only took the tablets for a day as expressing 8 times in 24 hours and tube feeding every 3 hours for 4 wks finally took its toll and i stopped.

Wishing you lots of luck and really hope it works. Try fenugreek aswell, you can get it from health food shops or the internet. It cost me £10 for 100 tablets.

I shouldn't have taken it (as it was prescribed to my friend when he had chemotherapy) but I did after I went away for a weekend when Sam was 9 months - I left expressed milk for Sam and took my pump but could hardly pump anything, and I felt as if I had no milk left when I got home. It takes a couple of days to work but it did work amazingly well - first time they'd felt properly full in months!

Just realised you posted this a few days ago now but hope it worked for you x

I took it and found it worked really well at increasing my supply.

I don't know what strength mine were, it was Motilium 10 (green packet) which I bought in the chemist as couldn't get it prescribed. I took 2 or 3 tabs 3 times a day and I found it had instant effect! I didn't notice any side effects.

YAY!
Seriously, I thought I was the only one.
So far I have been taking it for about a week and a half, and so its brought me up some, but still not quite keeping up with her feeds. The volume does increase with her needs, though. I do think alot of it is psychological, and the whole thing is, I think when I get her home and I am around her all the time, my supply will increase too.
Its funny, you know, I never knew how many women had problems breast feeding aside from myself.

EDIT:
If you are going to take it, I did find a good web page on it....
www.canadianbreastfeedingfoundation.org
Its Canadian content, but the idea is the same.
