Hair loss after pregnancy

How long does it last?
My hair has only just started falling out and it is really getting me down, I can't wash, brush, dry or do anything to it without clumps of it coming out

Had to cook the xmas dinner today with my hair tied up really tight adn wore a hair band too for fear of getting hair in everyones dinner!!!

i do remember last time I went to the Doctors about it as I didn't know it happened after pregnancy, and he assured me it is normal, but I can't remember how long it lasted

I know I go on about this but I really suffered.

Losing hair is normal after giving birth but if its excessive and going on and on, get a thyroid check. Its a simple blood test at the doctors. 1 in 100 women will develop antibodies that will attack their thyroid after birth. Its called Hashimotos. I had it and left it because everyone said loosing hair was normal after birth, even the doctor. I also had dry skin, hair, bad constipation, hair loss, fatigue. Symptoms are similar after having a baby. When I got a goiter it was then that they tested me. Dont wait as long as I did because it symptoms can be relieved with meds.

mine started falling out loads about 10 weeks after having my little Ali. It has just recently stopped. it was so bad after brushing my hair i had to get the hoover out!!!!

my hair grew really long and fast while preggers and got really thick. i got loads of it cut off (although i loved it long) and that seemed to help as it has now stopped falling out. in fact, when i am brushing it now hardly any seems to be coming out. so it does get better hun. i guess i would worry if i saw bald patches.

After my first baby, I had so much hair fall out, I would literally cry in the shower.
I even ended up in the emergency room because I thought it meant I was seriously ill. I began to treat my hair like antique lace. Something that helped was to shampoo only once a week. I know it sounds strange but it stopped the hair loss. Instead of using shampoo, I used apple cider vinegar to wash my tresses and conditioned every day. I continued to take vitamins and wore my hair in buns or braids. By the time my son was 3, I had thick hair down to my asscrack. My hair has thinned out again and I anticpate it will drop out again. Try not to panic. I also use a shampoo and conditioner a nioxin that cancer patients use to thicken up their hair- it's lovely! Good Luck.
