How not to get pregnant....

I really really do not want to get pregnant again after LO. OH and I have discussed having a second child, and we both think 5/6 years is the earliest we'd think about it.

So apparently the MWs at the hospital give you a 'contraception talk' (lol) after you give birth. I've only ever been on the pill, but I'm not the best at taking it.

I've heard good and bad things about pretty much every method of contraception but I'm willing to put up with some bad side effects if it means I don't get pregnant again.

Short of getting OH snipped (joke ) or never letting him near me again....what method do you girls recommend after you've had a baby?

I haven't really done anything since Damien's birth in the way of contraception but we're thinking about Mirena in which is an IUC (like an IUD but plastic instead of copper) and it's good for 5 years and you can get it taken out if you change your mind

After Damien was born we charted to keep track and that worked until one month when I was a couple days off from when I was suppose to ovulate.

I've tried both the needle and the patch and have had really bad experiences with both including 3 months of bleeding on the needle and passing out in the shower for the patch. I'm to afriad to try much else with birth control but I will be trying Mirena.

I was on the pill for a couple years, I had deprovera shot just after LO was born in 2005.
I do not suggest deprovera, I had bad side effects and almost everyone I know of has. I did have one friend who used an IUD.

I'm gonna try the patch. You patch it on once a week and it has the smallest number of side effects.

I would also NOT suggest the depo injection. Bad news, it will mess you up forever. What about the coil? or implant?

PATCH:
They have a lawsuit out on it... do they even still make them?

IUD:
I also heard IUD is often felt by men with larger penises. This was from a nurse, she said lots of woman end of having it removed because hubby can feel it!

DEPO:
Yes, it did mess with my body. I only had the shot three times. one six month time and another three month! I gained weight both times. Matter fact hormonal BC does not work good with me. I lost weight after stopping my pills with no effort almost at all (that is just a fraction of what depo is).

I just need to talk Hubby into getting HIS tubes tied!
