So annoyed- rant about name

I'm sure I'm not the only one here who has a different surname to their baby. I'm so annoyed that people cant grasp that fact- me and mark arent married- get over it.

I got a letter today to the parent of Chloe Bennett, Chloe Bennett doesnt exist (not here anyway) just because I am Amy Bennett doesnt make her Chloe Bennett.

Shes registered Chloe Stephenson, shes down at the dr as Chloe Stephenson, her red book says Chloe Stephenson. It just annoys me.

Plus, my Gran (who insists she must see a wedding before she dies (???!!!!)) now refers to me as Amy Stephenson.

Why does this seem such a difficult concept for people to grasp

I knwo I'm being silly bt it upsets me that they cant get my little girls name right- its not rocket science

yes! and when you correct people do they look at you like you've stolen her or something?! Seriously, the faff we went through after we'd left hospital because all the medication and follow-up appointments used my surname for Alasdair. I've stopped wearing my engagement ring too so I think that makes people even more uncomfortable.

I wouldn't have thought it was that unusual!

Exactly. And when I tell them we're not getting married they look at me like I'm doing something illegal!!! And there was me thinking having a baby together was a commiutment in itself!!

its defenetly not unusual.

even though ive been married a year tomorrow all my family still call me buy my maiden name.

when i was born i was given my mums last name and not my dads,so everyone at school and that thought my dad was my step dad coz i didnt have his name.

i wouldnt worry about it hun.

Strange, in our hospital they automatically gave her my maiden name on her bracelets etc. even though we put Stan's last name on the birth certificate. They didn't even ask me if I'd taken his name...

In the hospital they use the mothers name, as if your not married they will wonder why they have i.e and baby called Baby Long and not Mrs Long! so it saves confusion. But I get asked about who names my LO is going to have and when i say OH people ask why cos we aint married, and i said so thats her family name to take, and if me and OH did choose 2 marry we would have to go to the trouble of changing her name. I wouldnt hide the face that my daughter is Keen (OH names) rather then a Dagger (mine). Yet again it just narrow minded people stuck in the dark ages! x

Me and OH are not married and baby has his surname so I get post for "Mrs Reid" sometimes, or people call me "Mrs Reid" or ask about my "husband". I always correct people but it doesn't really bother me.

My family don't nag me about getting married though, maybe they just don't like my OH that much lol

I love getting sales calls though, they say (in that overfriendly annoying voice) "Oh hi is that Mrs Reid?" and I say back "sorry Mrs Reid doesn't live here" and put the phone down
