I'm Currently Feeling: | Newborn weight gain Has or did anyone else's newborns put weight on right from the start?
My midwives have been amazed that Ruby didn't actually loose any weight at all she has gained weight since she was born. She was 6lb 2oz born, 6lb 3 1/2 oz 3 days later and on Monday was 6lb 11oz.
Midwives said they have never seen a breastfed baby put weight on like that. I sure hope she eventually slows down!!!!!! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Sharlotte was 7lb 14oz at birth
She weighed 7lb 9oz at discharge 24 hours later
Two days later she was 7lb 14 oz, and pediatrician said the same thing supernurse. He normally sees babies again in 2 weeks post delivery, but didn't bother booking Sharlotte since she was already gaining weight well...
should go weigh her again (I will when she's done sleeping )
Good Job mama! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Seth put on too, never lost anything that I know of. He was 7lb at birth and 7lb 1oz 3 days later. Haven't had him weighed since though. Im breastfeeding too and the MW I saw seemed very suprised he hadn't lost any weight.

I'm Currently Feeling: | Bren did lose weight, he went from 7.8 to 6.13, since I was breastfeeding, it did not worry me. The DH and I weighed him yesterday and chubbo is now up to 9lbs and 2 oz! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | It's fairly normal for newborns to put weight on rather quickly and then taper off. I wouldn't be too concerned. They will keep ruby on a growth chart and if they are concerned I think they will tell you and help you make some changes. Even now still Angelynn has a week or two of a major growth spurt and then it pretty much stops it seems. Ruby is doing very well though weight gain is a good sign of a happy baby |
