Depressed about post pregnancy body!

I had my baby girl onValentines day, she is 4 weeks old today!

I was very strict on my eating prior to my pregnancy and had lost 10 kgs (about 22lbs) to get to 69 kgs. i let ate very healthy during my pregnancy and only gained back the 10kgs up to about 80kgs.

I have lost about 7kgs since isabella was born, and am now 72.5kgs. whhat i dont understand is that about a week after she was born i weight 71 kgs! I have been eating maximum 1400 cals a day and walking about 5kilometres a day as well! I dont understand!

I am having difficulty coming to terms with it as i feel like i am being so strict with no results! I know i am being very impatient but my relationship with food and body image has always been an issue and the lack of results and putting ON weight is really getting me down!

Did anyone else have fluctuating weight after birth even when dieting?!

I know alot of women had it much worse and i dont want to seem ungrateful but i am really upset!

Thanks for letting me rant, any advice would be appreciated

Are you breastfeeding? If you are then dropping your cals that low would cause your body to hold on to everything, I would try and increase your cals to at least 1800 and see if that makes a difference

You may well be starving your body. Talking from experience i was 69kg and COULD NOT drop that last damn 9kg!!! I was on a strict 1200 cals per day and in 3 weeks of what felt like torture i lost about 1 or 2lbs!? then DH came back from being away and i started eating what he ate not couting calories but being aware of them (as in not sitting eating 6 creme eggs lol) and i lost 3lbs in a week. Try not to think like youre on a diet and get out walking, walking is the best for loosing the post baby weight!!
Enjoy your LO, but i completely know where youre coming from!! I still want to loose 5-8lbs but i guess it will come off eventually.
Try not to let it drag you down hun it took 9 months for your body to get like that so give it 9 months to get back to normal!

xxxxx

Thats a whole load of exercise to be doing on such a small amount of calories....even when on a diet, women shouldn't eat less than 1500 calories.

I agree with others, you're body is going into starvation mode, and retaining everything it can as you are pushing it too hard....

eat a little bit more, and exercise maybe once every 2 days, and you're body will kick back into fat burning xx

Your metabolism is all out of whack right now, and will be for about a year!

Do not diet, you will go into starvation mode as others have said. Plus, all that excersize may be making you gain weight from muscle gain. Your body will still be retaining water at times too.

Try to relax, eat healthily and only light excersize. If your GP knew what you were doing you would get told off!

Depression and lethargy are signs of your body not coping with its food intake. You may well find that you just feel better about yourself if you do eat more, and then you will be in a better place mentally to see that your body looks great after having a baby. Women are not designed to retain their pre-pregnancy figure and weight after a baby, it's social pressure that makes us think we should.

Take it slow, ur hormones needs to regulate 1st before starting to loose weight. I was 57 kgs before getting pregnant. Reached 83 kgs during pregnancy. Was 76 kgs after delivery. I didnt diet but just started to eat healthy. For the 1st 4 wks I didnt loose any weight. At week 8 I was 67 kgs, & now I'm 64 kgs. As soon as u get ur 1st period u'll drop some weight. I had CS & still cant exercise. Will start proper dieting soon as it's the right time to go for it. Drink lots of water to flush ur system. I FF frm day 1.
