Fear of going to the bathroom (tmi)

I haven't gone to the bathroom for a stool since saturday... I'm just so scared to go because I have a tear. I'm scared it'll hurt or break or something! I know I should go (got a bit of a tummy ache now...) but I just can't overcome the fear. I'm so sore down there and just the thought of going makes me freak out.

Anyone?

I was terrified of doing a poo after birth....i never even thought about it until my friend said to me...."whats worse than childbirth?....the first poo afterwards" oh my god i was so scared !
I also tore slightly and had some stitches, it was about 4/5 days after the birth when i finially went and to be honest it wasnt half as bad as i thought! a little uncomfortable but not really painful. I would really reccommend drinking loads of water and eating a good fibre diet...weetabix, lots of fruit etc.
Just wait until you need to go...and some people have said that holding a clean satinary pad against the stitches while they go helped to make them feel a bit more 'secure'.

Just think though..... youve just pushed a baby out.... whats a little poop?! lol

I was scared and I had a c-section! lol.
However, since they cut through all your muscles it was kinda hard to push (sorry tmi)! lol.. like I couldn't burp or anything without having to push like three times harder! It sucked!

i know exactly how u feel.....

i have 2 things that make me poop within minutes, fish and chips from the chippy and a milkshake from macdonalds, i had both and it happened...it honestly wasnt as bad as i thought it would be....
if you have any food that makes you do the same id advise it!

i tore quite badly and used lavender oil in the bath and managed not to get any infections in my stitches...*a very old midwife advised me when ever i had a bath or shower to use a hairdryer down there making sure i was totally dry* at first i thought she was bonkers but she was right, the dryer its kept the cleaner it is...

hope this helps and its not tmi...

bless i cant wait for my first few days..treasure every second and take as many photos as you can jess..it goes so quickly!!

What worked for me was pouring a jug of warm water over my bits everytime I went to the loo (I also added a bit of salt as it helps healing faster). It relaxed me & I had went before I knew it. Tbh the thought of it was worse then actually going!! Good luck

Yeah, my MW told me about the hair dryer too.
I was exactly the same as you, I was terrified. Holding a pad there does help, but in the end I had to have lactolose to help

I was in an old-fashioned hospital after my C-section and they gave me an enema - my god! never again! Still it was terrifying doing the first solo poo, if you get my drift. You've just got to grab the bull by its horns though and tell yourself that no poo will be so stressful, so the sooner it's done and dusted the better! I actually felt fine after my first solo poo and ready to tackle the world. Good luck!!!!

Oh my Jess, I am struggling with the exact same thing right now.
Since I have a lot of damage and soreness I am dreading the moment.
The hospital gave me stool softeners and I took milk of magnesia, so I am hoping I get some relief in the morning.

It took me probably a week after my section to go. I was on stool softeners since the day I had Erica, and honestly, it still hurt like hell. Its a natural instinct to push, and you cant really stop it! Having my tummy muscles cut, I thought my tummy was going to tear open again. OUCH!

But honestly, it gets easier and easier. Its still a little painful.

This was awful and my pads really made the soreness worse then I discover vaseline around teh areas that appears sore/rubbed and around the tear gentely - then in the morning when I'd have a shower nice warm water from the shower really helped a clean soothing feeling x
