well it's been a week and I still can't tried yesterday with no success (I thought my tear would rip, ouch) I think I may need something to make me go...
Even now, the thought of going to the loo makes me shudder lol. I didn't tear outside (just had 1 stitch inside) but I was petrified that I was going to tear or something, plus the pain was unbearable. Try a stool softener and I know it is easy to say, but try to relax when you go - that will help loads.
oh i remember that i was so scared 2. i went in hosipal on the 2nd day after hsving my baby++ i was consipated from the pain relef they give me. when i got hme my MW told me 2 eat kiwi and i did n it worked a treat
I can offer some advice on this topic. woohoo
It took me 5 days to finally be able to go. Stool softeners + ex-lax chocolates and LOADS of fluids. I went on Monday (tiny bit) and last night (took me over an hour) and after all that I ended up with a very very loose stool. I know this entire topic is TMI, so I hope you don't mind.
this is the one thing NO ONE told me about when I had DD#1. I talked to docs, my mom, friends, relatives, people in my birth class who had babies before me... no one mentioned this aspect of post birth.
For me, this was worse than giving birth. Sorry- I don't mean to add more stress to the situation
I have been on a 'bulking agent' (ie Citrucel or Metamucil (my fave of the two)) for near my entire pregnancy, and I will be taking it up to and beyond birth just to make sure I'm staying 'regular'. I do NOT want to go through that 2nd birth again.
Drink lots, apple juice, OJ, hell, try curry now too...
Take a bulking agent, and maybe check with doc to see if you can take one of those daily 'help me go' tablets for women, or use ex-lax.
Good luck to you Jess, I almost wish I was in your shoes (cuz then I would have already had baby ).
I had a stool less then 24 hours after delivery, luckily the stool softener helped. I was so scared that I would rip my stitches open! I was glad to get that over with =/ I wanted it to just "fall out" because I didn't want to push.
I found holding a pad over my stitches & applying a little pressure really helped. I had to go at least once at the hospital or they wouldn't let me go home. I had a third degree tear & I was so scared of going to the toilet, but it really wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.. I don't even remember it hurting.
