Periods question - heavy & painful

Possibly TMI -

Isobelle is almost 15 weeks old & even tho Im exclusively breastfeeding Im one of the unfortunate ones who got her periods back.
First one was 4 weeks ago and it started again yesterday.

The first one was awful, I almost ended up being admitted to hospital as they thought it was more retained placenta (passed some at 3 days pp) but had an emergency scan and they said everything was ok in there so sent me home to stick it out. It was more painful when I fed & so heavy I cant even describe. It was very clotty too.
I spent 4 days in bed, in agony - hubbie brought Belle up for feeding as & when and other than that it was a struggle to leave the bed.
I had full bloods done and came back clear for anaemia etc.
The bleeding tapered off after 7 days.
I got a letter followup re scan last week and it said that after being reviewed (by someone else) everything was clear and if I shouldnt have any further issues - if there was anything left it would have passed with the 1st bleed.

So, the bleeding started again yesterday. Again, Im in agony, its very heavy and painful, moreso when I feed. Its so similar to contractions - It *really* hurts.

Its exactly 4 weeks since the last one so obviously my period but it cant be normal? can it?
Is the pain just something Ill have to live with if breastfeeding? (Im not going to stop, no matter how painful it is - as much as everyone keeps telling me!) Again, lots of clots.
I even have the shakes, Im not sure if thats bloodloss/pain or panic or what but bleeding this much cant be normal?!

Im going back to GP tomorrow but would like to know if anyone else's periods have become a problem after birth?
Mine used to be quite light, regular and relatively pain free (a bit of cramping was normal - but this is harsh, stabbing pains).

Sorry its so long Im just in a tizz &

Gosh... that doesn't sound good.
Mine were really heavy, but never had cramps to that extent...
Hope someone has a better answer for you!
Really hope your doctor can figure out whats causing it!
