Inner Labia Tear *TMI warning*

I made the mistake of having a look down there with the aid of a hand mirror last night.

The tear/stitches to my perineum look to be healing well and can't see it giving me any long term problems.

My other tear though was to my inner labia on the right hand side. Basically, when I delivered it split in two horizontally, so essentially I ended up with two separate bits rather than one "lip". It looks awful you can really see that it's in two pieces.

It's been stitched back together but still looks obviously seperate. Has anyone else had this? How did it heal? I'm worried I'm ruined down there forever and I'm going to end up with 2 seperate pieces of labia because they won't heal back together. xx

Hope everything goes okay at the doctors I'm just praying that mine will sort itself out as it heals, and until it feels like it has I am not looking again! xx

Hey hun,
I had an inner labial stitch about 3inches long.
It had healed really well and ive not had any problems. If ur feeling worried have ur MW to have look and give you some reassurance that everything will be fine.

Good luck
x

Hey was searching this and found your post which seems similiar to me. My LO was born 8 days ago and I had a labia tear. The midwife gave me 1 stitch after delivery but looking today the tear is horizontally in half and the stitch doesn't seem to be anywhere near this space to hold it closed.

How did you get on with this? Did it heal by itself or did you have to see a gyne? Just scared that this will need to be 're-done' dread the thought of anyone near that area after the labour!

Hope you all managed to get things sorted x

Horizontal Labial tear

I just discovered 8 days after home birth, that I have a horizontal labial tear. How did you all resolve yours? Unfortunately, I did not know and neither did the midwives at the time, so no stitches were done. Please help. Scared I am scarred for life and scared to have to get cut on too.

Hey, don't think I'll be much help but thought I would reply as I left a message too asking for help. My labia tore and I did have 1 stitch, but I really cannot see how it has helped as the tear has now healed in 2 parts. I was hoping somehow it would heal together naturally but 8 weeks on it hasn't. Was hoping to get some advice at my 6 week check, but my doctors no longer offer a check for mums at 6 weeks so I really don't know what to do either. I know it is all just cosmetic and OH don't mind but it does bother me. Anyway you are not alone! x
