bleeding bright red again?

I always thought when you were bleeding postpartum it should be red, then go to like a brownish or light pink (whichever.. idk), then you should stop.. etc.

Well, my blood was brownish for about 4 weeks, and now it has gone back to bright red ? It's not really heavy but slightly more than it was before, but there is still alot of clearish discharge mixed with it and it's still stringy-like.

Could something be wrong? I didn't think it was supposed to go back to red.

And I didn't think you were supposed to start your period for a month or two after you stopped bleeding ? I thought thats what it might be, but it's not just blood.. like I said it's still stringy-like and thick.

Any ideas?

hiya marchbaby,

it could be that you've simply overdone it abit, this is what I was told at least.

Or it could indicate that your period has indeed returned

Or it could possibly mean that some tissue has been left internally after the birth of your son.

I would keep an eye on it and so long as you are in no pain (which would probably mean infection or retained products) then I would mention it to your gp at your 6 week check-up.
