Question

Sex question

How long do you have to wait before having sex??

I'm a little unclear... I thought you had to wait until after your postnatal check up at the doctors but then my midwife was asking me about what I planned on using in terms of family planning and when I told her we weren't thinking about sex just yet, she said not to be surprised if my libido went up suddenly and that I could get pregnant right after having this baby so I had to be careful, and now I'm a little confused.....

Can we have sex as soon as my bleeding has stopped? Or do we have to wait till after I've been seen by a doctor? And what about ... 'self love' Is that off limits, too??

...I'm getting a little frustrated here...

I dont know why people think they have to wait for their 6 week check, its not like the doctor looks at it anyway!!imagine that... "yep its fine go have sex" lol Theres no medical reason to say you must wait 6 weeks.
My midwife told me after i had the baby to use condoms in the mean time then the GP will sort out contraception at the 6 week check up!

Whenever you feel ready and comfortable then its totally up to you when you do it, we did it after 4 weeks

yeah we did it at 4 weeks too, i suppose it depends when you feel ready. It is funny though, my libido went through the roof after Oscar, I had trouble waiting to 4 weeks

Its been five weeks so far.. and we haven't done anything yet. I'm scared that since it's been five weeks it might hurt. And I'm still bleeding, are we supposed to be stopped bleeding first?

My friend told me she got back to it the day her stitches came out and she'd been counting down the days till that happened. Apparently the sooner you go for it the better it is in the long run because if you keep puttin it off you worry about whether it will hurt more, you feel like it less and you get too tired and involved in your kids to make time for it.
