Lochia advice

Hi all,

I gave birth to my beautiful daughter 5 weeks ago today, but I am still getting some lochia. It seemed to get less and less last week, but today seems to have come back. Its not red any more either but brown instead. Do you know if this is normal, how long did yours last for?

Thanks

well my lochia stopped at around 3 and half weeks but before it stopped it went pink then went brown and then i had normal discharge then saturday i started bleeding again so i presume this is my 1st period

I would say if you have any worries you should contact your doctor or MW or HV whoever it is you are seeing atm.

Everyone is different however and i know there are ladies on here that still had lochia at 5 weeks.

Yep, it's totally normal to have lochia for a good few weeks after birth - it's usually tapered off in most people by week 6. As long as it's not accompanied by lower abdominal pain/clots/fever, it's nothing to worry about

After about week 3, mine stopped and started a few times. Wasn't gone for long, but I thought I was lucky and it was over!
I think it's normal so long as there aren't big clots!
Talk to your doctor if you're worried!

I bled for three weeks (had a c sec) and it stopped completely. A week later it started again (but it was obviously a period, lochia and period's are very different (well for me it was anyway..) so yes, its normal
