To the ladies that have PND!!!

I was diagnosed with PND (PPD in the US) and was perscribed an antidepressant. I took the first pill last night and when I woke up to feed LO I felt so wierd. I felt spaced out, nauseous, anxious, and shaky. It only lasted for a little bit. As soon as I laid back down after caring for LO it seemed to subside. I still feel a little loopy, but not too bad.

I have given my Dr a call and waiting for him to return the call. But in the mean time, I just wanted to ask if any of you ladies had any of these symptoms when first starting an antidepressant?

Thanks so much!!

I am on Celexa 20mg, which is very similair to Lexapro. They were going to put me on Lexapro, but my insurance wouldn't pay for them, don't know why. The doctor said this is the closest thing to Lexapro.

20mg is very strong to start with thats probably it.say it to the doctor when he calls back but i would say start with 5mg or 10mg a day for a week and then move up.im suprised they didnt suggest that.

I think they are a little too strong too. I still feel loopy, but nothing else thank the Lord! I will let him know that they may be too strong for me and that maybe it should be brought down to 5mg or 10mg. Thank you!!!

I had this when I first took mine which was 20mg Citlopram. I felt dizzy, hot flushes and kinda of drunk (like when you have a few glasses of wine) and had to go to bed about half an hour after taking it.
I'd definitley speak to your doctor about the dose when he calls you back. The side effects took a few weeks to die down for me.
x

My friend just started on anti-depressants a few weeks ago and they say they wake up stoned every day so I think its normal and I think its supposed to let up after a few weeks.

When I started my meds, I felt the same an always take them as I go to bed after LO has settled. I've been on them 6 weeks now and have no problems at all!

Except that I don't seem to be craving choccie as much!!! lol
